It is not free (it is paid for by all council tax payers) and you can be prosecuted if you use it anywhere bar a public road.

    Honest people buy their own

Last year some of the neighbours cleared out the bin to do their own drives.

Hence iced up road & they no longer could get to work because no one could drive up the slope to the "main" road.

    Idiots.,

Why are people making multiple purchases? How long do we have snow lying these days?
If you cant buy any, you now know why. People hoarding enough for the next 3 years.

    LMAO +1. Victor...

Last year I was the ONLY person to put the said grit outside the flats so my sister didn't break her neck (she's disabled). No one else ever bothers to put any down. As I said, I pay my council tax and I'm taking some bloody grit!

You do know, if you put your own stuff on public paths/ roads if there is an accident you are liable not the council.

The council should provide enough grit to do the paths. If someone slips outside my house and blames my Asda salt then they'll have to prove i put it there first.
I saw countless folk, old and young as well as parents slipping whilst pushing prams/buggies last time the snow hit. Including myself.

Better than a car mounting the pavement because some idiot wanted to do his bit of drive & path.
