 Have taken a year to investigate my PPI claim. They finally offered me £2200 but said my account was in arrears so they would use £1200 to pay off the loan and pay the rest to me. I sent back the acceptance form 4 weeks ago but they have now come back and said my local branch have said the figure was wrong and they will use all of the compensation to pay off the loan - can they do this once I have accepted and signed the form?

    Hi there

Ask them to send you a detailed written breakdown.
Unfortunately mistakes happen but I would defo request for the breakdown just in case anything is amiss, good luck please keep us posted. Cheers.

  • I posted in June 2009 to say that Welcome Finance had paid me back my PPI to the sum of £2189.00. Just received a letter nearly 18 months later to say that they did not take into account my previous loans and that they would be paying me another £4289.00 which included compensation for their mistake in calculating the original settlement.

What a surprise, I am getting married next year and this will pay for a massive chunk of the cost. Just what I needed, well done Welcome Finance....... but you aren't Welcome at my Wedding!!

That's good to hear and I hope you have a great wedding.
  • Hi, I don't normally venture into the "financial jargon" bit of the MSE forums, I'm more of a coupon and craft lover but scrolling down today the inimitable words "Welcome Finance" shouted very loudly at me. So forgive me if I'm now asking questions asked many times before and shout me down if you wish but about 5 years ago my husband I took out a Welcome Finance Secured Loan which we settled in full when we sold up. Sadly I don't have any paperwork whatsoever, glad at the time to get rid of them but I do have a feeling we had ppi, and I also had a feeling that as Welcome are borderline sub-prime they told us we the ppi was compulsory or we couldn't borrow. Its not crystal clear but familiar.

Just wondering, where do I start - do I use a template from on here and then let them tell me if we had the ppi or not.

Im a little confused and wondering what can of worms I may be opening. I can recall them being slightly obnoxious to deal with at the time and borrowed from them due to necessity not choice.
Love, through the trees, past the sky, beyond the northern lights; and I won't let go. May your soul and spirt fly sweetheart x

My alphabet-girls are with me every step of the way x

    Hi there

If you were mis sold the ppi for any reasons you have, there is a reclaiming questionnaire you complete and send to whoever sold you the policy (head office), this replaced the template letter on this site, but your free to write one in your own words instead if you want to.

    Reclaiming questionnaire here:

    Good luck.

Hi there, send a £1 and request the agreement, this will have the account number on. This ppi was front loaded and it is rip off, 99% of these ppi are upheld as mis sell.
  • I had just over £1k paid out this year and had a letter a couple of weeks ago saying they are going to look at it again and have been told i am in line for another £1500. Bloody brill me thinks.
