Manchester suburbs (very popular area good schools etc). Stagnation on the whole.

New estate struggling to seel - now offering incentives such as discounts on mortgage repayments.

Houses suitable for flipping are selling well (but at very reduced prices e/g 25%)

Very expensive, large houses still selling.

Low and middle market - stuck. I've seen stuff on the market for over a year.

Nothing selling ofr full asking price. Asking prices being cut etc.

Desperate EA's seem to fall over themselves the minute you say your are not in a chain.

In general it's a buyers market.
  • In NW London houses are selling in just few days after coming on the market. They are ridiculously priced too - I was told by one agent that it is very limited what I can buy in the area for my budget of £350k. It would be funny if it wasn't sad...

I'm on the border of SE London & Kent & houses are selling rapidly here at the moment. The estate agents are all busy leaftleting as they don't have many properties on their books right now.

Wish I was ready to sell now, but think it'll be nearer next spring before I'm ready & the market may be very different then.
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.

To be honest in my area (mid hampshire) I would say houses fall into two categories. Those desirable houses that are priced right (usually FTB properies) are selling very quickly. But then the other half are just dreamers, where they are asking far far too much money for it, and it is way overpriced to those that are selling.

To sum up, reasonablly priced property is moving, but the rest of them think their house is worth more than anyone is willing to pay, so it sticks on the market; usually many many months until the decide to swap EAs and reduce the price...

    Same as that!

As above, reasonably priced properties are moving fast - usually lower priced properties under £150k.

Higher priced stuff is usually overpriced and is not shifting at the moment.

We are having trouble finding a suitable 3 bedroom semi's at the price we can afford around £150K in North Yorkshire. There doesnt appear to be much around even with houses above that, I assumed it was due to time of year.

We have our 2 bedroom terraced house to sell yet not lookiung forward to that, although I been told there are selling well around here to 1st timers.

Flats especially starter flats selling very fast in aberdeen. At good prices too. Friends put in an offer on one, more than 20% over the offers over price*, and still lost out

*If someone else wants to explain the Scottish system that'd be good, if not, I'll come back to it.

down where we are buying a house Thatcham (Berks) houses are flying off the market, people offering way over the asking price too... as what happened on a couple of houses that we put offers on even when we offered asking price and we are FTB... there are v few 2 -3 beds which are on the market for more that a week or 2.

But in Sheffield where Im from and my family still live the market seems much slower and much cheaper *sigh*.... why did i move away!!! LOL
