When did your baby start sleeping through the night?

My DD2 slept right through from the night she was born. 12 am to 9am usually. And she still loves her sleep now at 16 months old. We did get moaned at by the midwife about not waking her for feeds but I have two other children and knew from them that if they were hungry they would wake. I never had any problems with her ie. being overly hungry, a weak feeder etc. I think it all depends on the baby and what they are happy with. My other two were both different. My DD1 was about 1 when she started to sleep through the night and my son was about 8 weeks. I think if you know what you are doing and your baby is happy it doesn't matter.0

On the waking to feed thing, I am doing breastfeeding helper training, and today we covered that - apparently they need to feed at least every 5 hours in the first 3-4 weeks, so in that period if they sleep longer than 5 hours you need to wake them for a feed (or dream feed) but after then they shoudl be left to sleep.
Never an issue for me as DD fed at least every 2 hours until she was about 9 months IIRC.:cool: DFW Nerd Club member 023...DFD 9.2.2007 :cool::heartpuls married 21 6 08 :A Angel babies' birth dates 3.10.08 * 4.3.11 * 11.11.11 * 17.3.12 * 2.7.12 :heart2: My live baby's birth date 22 7 09 :heart2: I'm due another baby at the end of July 2014! :j

I am a mean mummy. I had a bad tempered tired looking DD (bags under eyes etc) who only slept midnight to 5am which whilst this is classed as sleeping through, but meant I was struggling at work. I used the crying down technique at 9 months and now (18months old) she asks to go to bed at 7pm, wakes at 3am for milk chats to herself then goes back to sleep till 7am. She is now a lovely little girl, tantrums are at a minimum and she doesnt look tired. I will also mention that she isnt really into daytime naps either 20 mins to 30 mins once a day if I'm lucky even when she was only getting 5hrs a night.DS1 arrived 22/02/11! 8lb3oz

First slept through from 6 weeks, 2nd and 3rd 8 weeks. Although no 2 started waking again at 12 weeks for a quick breastfeed until she started on solids!! Can't grumble they were all fab babies!0

DD - 6 weeks...and less fortunate friends look delighted when they point out that number 2 (currently a bun in the oven!) probably won't follow suit!0

I've mentioned this on another thread, but I've had 4 who did not sleep reliably through the night until they were all over 7 years old!! :eek::eek::eek::eek:
And no, we are not rubbish parents either, just sleep deprived for far too long
Even now you still get the odd sore tummy,sore ear, bad dream, drink of water scenario and she's 16!
