My dh tells me that Stoke City football club was Icelandic owned. And there are a couple of Icelandic footballers in the English leagues.

Thanks for the info. Everyone please take note.

And let's not forget Belgium! Their chocolate is bound to have caused it's fair share of the UK's obesity problem - I mean, it just tastes so good!:rotfl:

If only more Belgian chocolate made it to Norway eh? We could stuff the Norweigians full of it and leave no room for their ungodly taste for whale meat!

Did you, however, take note of my comments that Norway have not broken the ban on whaling, but have been doing so legally all along?

And do you also object to the killing of pigs for profit? Scientists also believe that pigs are intelligent and social creatures like ourselves, and pigs' organs have actually been used in organ transplants. So is this practice ok with you, or have you made a concious choice to oppose hunting of whales instead of other intelligent beings. I could understand your argument if you're a vegetarian and don't eat meat, but as of yet, I find it difficult to comprehend that someone choses to oppose the killing of one animal instead of another. Please note that I'm not having a go by saying this, I'm just trying to make sense of things and get the bigger picture.

We can always find that little technicality clause, can't we..? The one which allows us to say 'Ah yes, what I'm doing is wrong but, hey, what person X is doing MIGHT also be wrong, so that absolves me from blame'.

I can well imagine arguments like yours being peddled by the pro-whaling lobby.

We can always find that little sop to our consciences.

Well, sorry but there are cases where the 'big picture', as you put it, is so overwhelmingly obvious that arguments like these stand out clearly for what they are - apologism.

Whaling is as clear a case of barbaric human behaviour towards wild animals as you will find in the modern world, full stop. This is something which, IMHO, people need to take a stand on or lose the right to call themselves civilised.

I think we can observe fairly clearly in some of the above comments the standard of debate which the posters concerned would prefer us to adopt, presumably in an attempt to cloud the issue.

Maybe their more natural level of contribution is finally showing itself.

    Yet more vindication.

For me, the best bit of this thread so far is LizEstelle deciding to boycott a football club that she has only just found out about and wouldn't under any other circumstances have had anything to do with! :D Brilliant!

As I have a nut allergy, I'm going to boycott KP Nuts from now on! Anyone else want to join me on this ludicrous escapade?!

    REMEMBER - EVESHAM'S TROUBLE - BOYCOTT EVESHAM.

What I love about LizEstelle's occasional 'well, we can see their level of debate' hissy fits is that they have a tendancy to attack people who may well be on her side on the whaling issue.

Having said that I (and I'm telling the absolute truth here) am just tucking in to a chunk of Jarlsberg. Very yummy! And I believe on offer at Tesco at the moment.

    BUT NOT IN EVESHAM!*

Yet more intelligent contributions to the debate. Nut allergies, avatars...

I think I shall now wait until somebody posts something which merits a response other than that of total contempt before replying.

LizEstelle, how's the Stoke City boycott going? Will you be burning your season ticket or just not renewing? :rotfl:
