I know I'm all about the drama in the headline !!!
But right now thats how I am feeling I am miserable
I'm at a point were I am unhappy in my job.
I hate the City we live in.
I want to go work abroad before its too late but I dont know where to start I need a new start in life.
I always wanted to travel and see the world
Dubai looks excellent if I could head out there tax free living plus solves' one massive problem with my debts too If I sell my house I can use my equity to pay off my debts and still have about £10k spare.
Am I mad?
Me and my hubby are in our mid 20's we have a whole life in front of us so If this is a mistake and wee screw up abroad we still have time to fix anything that could possibly happen we could start again if we needed to come back to Blighty.
Can anyone give me advice do you think it is "running away" from my problems ? Or a new start?

Isn't the knowledge that comes from experience more valuable than the knowledge that doesn't?

The only problem with running away is you can't escape yourself. Only you can decide if you should move and whether its the right time.Barclaycard 3800

If you really want to do it you should go for it. Especially the debt-free bit- that would really give you freedom. I truly believe that you regret the things you DON'T do much more than the things you do.
You could always start looking for jobs in Dubai just to see what's out there. If something good comes up then you could go for it. As you say, you're still young enough to come back if you find it's not for you.Debt at highest May 2006: £27,472.24

I'm currently looking for a job and am trawling the websites - it's amazing how many jobs are available in Dubai. With their wages, you could soon make a dent in your UK debt. Just be careful, though, how much time you spend in the UK - for tax purpose - worth checking out your tax situation.
If that's what you fancy - go for it.I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.

I'm not trying to influence your decision but I absolutely love Dubai! Part of the fact was probably due to me staying in a 6 star hotel!

The only down side I see about the country now is that there is so much building work going on over there. I fear it may ruin the place!
Also don't forget you can't buy alcohol unless in a restaurant!
What sort of work are you looking to get out there?

I think Dubai's gone a bit too far into the tourist trap now - why not try Bahrain? If you've no dependents and you're young, go for it!0

Its not really running away is it? Its wanting a happier life for yourselves. You won't be running away from debt if you plan to clear that with your equity. Like you say you are young enough to do it, and I wish I had the courage to make such a life decision. Good Luck with what ever you decide to do.0

My god guys your all quick off the mark today !
Thanks for your opinions
I'll try to explain how I mean I am happy with me I like who I am I have a few thing ie the debt That I hate but I have learnt from previous mistakes. I love my hubby dearly I know I'm biased but I think he is the most amazing man in the planet.
Its just our quality of life really sucks and has done for a while mostly to do with debt We work for the same company and to be honest work isnt great just now I do have a "great job" in terms if my wages for my age and also I am management I always thought this is what I wanted but I work god awful hours in a branch that makes me miserable at the thought of it. Hubby has not been happy in work for long enough.
We live in a lets say not great part of city the kids up here run riot although and general misery everywhere we look in the area we bought the flat as a first time buy and its served the purpose but I feel I just need to see the world experience more take some risks!
We have a great family here between mine and hubby so I know if we did fail we have a support system here but who says we're going to fail?
We literally will not owe a penny if we sell the flat (ooohhh goosebumps at that thought!) its just soooo bloody tempting.
Scouse I'm looking at emirates airline partly so I can see the world secondly they provide a flat etc on a 3 year contract and living expenses,
Rog the tax situaion we would only come home for holidays literally so I dont think we need to worry about that.Isn't the knowledge that comes from experience more valuable than the knowledge that doesn't?0 -
