AFAIK the insurance must name the registered keeper as a named driver, But it might be enough for the insurance to just name the RK as the RK and not as a driver, perhaps Victor2 could comment on whether his insurance names the RK and if he got road tax renewed yet?

The registered keeper of my car is my husband. I insure the car in my name only (he refuses to dive an automatic). We've never had a problem doing it this way. Nor have we ever had a problem getting the road tax renewed online.

hmmmmm, might just have been a dip !!!!!! Post Office worker then. I was trying to renew road tax around 1990 for a moped. The insurance was in my name but the bike (V5) was in my sisters name. They refused saying the keeper must be on the insurance. I changed the keeper to me.

When I renew car tax these days the keeper is the OH, and they always ask
"is this keeper still the registered keeper?" to which I say "yes"
But she is on the car insurance as policy holder anyway. So the issue I had with the moped has never risen again
  • I emailed the council about the problem and received one back saying"i accept the reasons you have given for parking your car in this way.As long as the car is parked there with your mothers permission and is used during the day for her benefit, then the council will not take any action against you and are happy to allow this to happen".I also asked insurance company about changing ownership of the car and to my surprise they said i would get £0.01 back as it was cheaper.LOL

I'm the 'Registered Keeper' of my Father's car (he is the Registered Owner). I insure the car in my name and he is the named driver and it's parked outside my place (on the road). The cars' are taxed and insured therefore I can park them where ever I like without penalty if it's legal to do so. Go ask the neighbour what their problem is and read them the riot act if necessary. As long as it's not a restricted area you haven't a problem.
