looks as though there is another bank holiday next year due to the royal wedding...
I know my accountant will tell me...lol... but how do i stand as an employer reagrding this extra bank holiday?
Will I be out of pocket?
does this mean shops wil be shut?
or will it be bank holiday hours?
I havent got a shop.... its a factory type enviroment....
will this extra bank holiday effect your business? good or bad especially with these hard times....

It depends on your employment contracts. The statutory minimum holidays state 28 and the employer can choose to include the 8 bank holidays in this. There is no right to time off for bank holidays and it is now generally classed as a normal day.
So does your contract state 20 days + bank holidays or something along those lines? If so you will have to allow the extra day off. Or, does your employment contract state 5.6 weeks holidayfor full time employees of which 8 must be taken on bank holidays? If so they would not be entitled to pay unless choosing this as one of their 8.
Have you also thought about the queens jubilee? So there are 10 bank holidays next year! Then we get onto Scotland which has more than England....0 -
Queen's Diamond Jubilee will be in 2012.If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0

Talking of jubilees, for anyone old enough to remember Silver Jubilee in 1977, do you think a lot more effort went into this than into the Golden Jubilee of 2002.If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0 -
I tell my staff they have got 28 days, which include bank holidays..
so basically its either me paying them, and them having a day off:mad:, or if they want the day off its got to come out of their holidays..
am I right ?Work to live= not live to work0 -

If that is what is in your contract then yes as far as I can see you can force them to use a days holiday. The Googlewhacker referance is to Dave Gorman and not to my opinion of the search engine!
If I give you advice it is only a view and always always take professional advice before acting!!!
