They are valid intermediately at any station on any 'permitted route'.

Tickets may be restricted to, or bar the use of, a particular company, any such restriction will be printed on the ticket.

An example would be York - Sheffield season would allow travel for journeys such as: York-Huddersfield; Harrogate-Wakefield; Barnsley-Meadowhall, and so on. All these journeys, and many more, would be covered.

Some people pay a little extra for a more flexible season ticket, to give them additional validity either at times of disruption or for leisure purposes.
