Is there a wet dog food which doesn't make them smelly?

I had my dog on raw diet as he has skin issues (itchy) but he lost so much weight and it didn't change his itching/biting that I decided at his age (11) he may as well eat what he liked and put the weight back on.
A few weeks on tinned stuff (Winalot) which he WILL eat (he is very fussy!) but he smells awful (very doggy) is there a tinned food that doesn't do that?
He doesn't like dried food and it seems to make his skin worse.

I have realised I will never play the Dane!

My dog doesn't like wet food.
He has James well-beloved complete lamb & rice dry dog food, with either a tray of caesar, or a value chicken portion chopped (not mixed) on top.0 -
I did speak to my vet and he said that if he wasn't thriving on the raw diet at his age it wasn't worth pursuing. He couldn't find any reason he lost weight on the raw meat. Mind you I recently did the Dukan diet and lost weight and that is based on LOTS of protein so maybe its the same principle I don't know
In the couple of weeks he has been on tinned he has put the weight back on but now he smells.I have realised I will never play the Dane!

Did your vet offer any options? Hills Science do wet food I think. I would avoid the cheapies as for the most part they're pretty rubbish!0

He didn't to be honest. He said at his age (11) if he wasnt thriving on raw then it just didn't suit him. He had suggested Hills Science dry (surprise surprise they sold it there) but no wet stuff.I have realised I will never play the Dane!

Vets know the bare minimum about nutrition, just like our doctors know about ours. And they will usually recommend whatever brand it is their practice is being paid to sell.
There are plenty of expensive foods that are rubbish, IMO hills, whilst far from being the worst food is VERY expensive for what it is.
Hills is £1.79 per can at p@h or £20.99 for 12.Savoury Chicken (minimum 10 %): Chicken, pearl barley, ground maize, dried whey, pork liver, iron oxide, dried beet pulp, maize gluten meal, digest, vegetable oil, fish meal, calcium carbonate, potassium chloride, taurine, vitamins and trace elements.
Natures menu is 89p or 18 for £14.49Lamb and Lamb Tripe (min. 60%), Brown Rice (min. 15%), Carrots (min. 8%), Natural Crushed Bone, Seaweed, Vitamins and Minerals, Vitamin A 1250iu/kg, Vitamin D3 150iu/kg, Vitamin E 20mg/kg.
So you'd be paying almost £1 more for a food of SIGNIFICANTLY lower quality.
I'd try him on either naturediet, natures menu, natures harvest or pets at home own wainwrights brand, all above 60% mean, and all around the same price as you're paying now of winalot, difference being they're much better quality.
Better quality ingredients going in, less waste/bad smells to come out lol.
My two didn't do well on a full raw diet either btw. Dogs are like humans, what suits one doesn't suit them all. They get half raw half dry now (not at the same time) and are doing very well indeed.Sigless0 -
You put him on Winalot? YUCK!
Try NatureDiet. Can't fault it.Wife and mother :jGrocery budget

Have a look at Hi-Life Complete Moist dog food.
I changed my dog to this as she stopped eating dry food and I wasn't keen on giving her 'wet food'. She really likes this and my vet has commented on how much brighter her eyes are & how good her coat is looking. She also doesn't have that horrible 'doggy smell' any more (the dog that is - not the vet!).Handle every stressful situation like a dog.
If you can't eat it or play with it ....... just pee on it and walk away.0
