2 days thats quick, what date did you switch t0rt0ise?

26th October. Just 4 weeks ago. Hope the gas goes quickly as they say we get charged at the standard tariff until both gas and elec are with them.

    I started on 8/11/10.

I am hoping the process goes slowly as the old OVO rates for gas are very low by comparison. :) Anyway of throwing a spanner in the works? ;)

Not if you have a word with them and tell them thats not what you want, i did and they agreed that what you signed up for you should get.

With reference to our conversation earlier today please accept this E mail as confirmation that your 3 contracts with EDF Energy will commence billing on the online saver version 7 tariff or failing that the accounts will be credited with the difference in price for the standard prices and the online saver version 7 prices.
Be good to the young on their way up you might need them on your way down.

Crivens. I'm called an EDF shill one month and a troll the next. Ignoring such stupidity the fundamental point remains: it is Backfoot who is being cynical and contrary - although they have received assurance EDF have publicly stated that the clause is there to prevent what Backfoot is seeking to do in the first place. As such Backfoot's applause is misplaced (other than self-congratulatory-look-what-you-scum-won't-get).

Hubb, you are completely missing the point.

:rotfl:I have to admire your imaginative thought processes.

I make a determined effort to get to the key decision makers within EDF and obtain an understanding and intention of their Clause 7. EDF have explained their intention quite clearly now in their statement.

What they fully accept is that once their Price Freeze is over, a Customer should have the right to switch again, only paying the Exit Penalties.

They have a genuine up front Promotional Offer. They would face severe difficulties if they started to treat it as anything other than that.

It is only you that thought the Clause 7 was clear. Even the drafter accepts it has caused confusion.

I think it is all credit to EDF to have clarified their intention. They could easily have left the waters muddied but they acted openly and honestly and hopefully all parties will gain.

I have shared the outcome with all other posters and readers so it is fantasy to suggest that I don't want others to benefit. Of course, I am very pleased with the outcome, why shouldn't I be, it's not often customers get a fair deal.:D

Conversely, your own postings on this matter, on several threads, were totally unhelpful from the Customer perspective, favouring an interpretation which was not actually intended by EDF. I know that because I have spoken to them several times. Do you really think they would have entered a dialogue with an ordinary customer, if they thought I was abusing their position? Indeed then to have made statements to explain the true intention of the clause.

I am glad I have done something about it and helped other customers or potential customers. :)

Your own comments actually show the bitterness of someone who feels aggrieved to have missed out.
