Hello

I've been thinking about upgrading to a Blackberry Torch being a Blackberry user but I'm now getting more in the idea of trying the HTC Desire HD.

Which one would you say is the best by your experience? Best deal around?

Thanks

Hello! Try to find the specific forums or reviews of those devices. I prefer Blackberry!

Ok I'll look out for those. I prefer BB not having used the HTC before but I saw many good reviews about it and the Android system is getting better eveyday so I'd like to know more.

I have the Blackberry Torch but there again I do like my Blackberrys!! :)

There are a couple of things on the Torch that could be better, I've inadvertently turned the wireless network off and as it a touchscreen I've ended up dialing out. If you have big fingers for the touchscreen you can slide the key pad out. It is heavier than all other Blackberrys.

However you will never find the perfect phone!! You can hold it when making calls, use Bluetooth to transfer files and it will hold a 32gb Micro SD card. There are not as many Apps as the iPhone.

I can't comment on the Desire because I've never had/used one, again it's what suits you. I use my Blackberry for email more than anything.

I have the Desire HD, and i have to say it's an amazing phone, in terms of spec's i believe the processor is much faster, and there is more ram. The android market has a huge and ever growing array of apps. It really depends on what you want you want from the phone.

    I've never used a BB.

I've got a HTC Desire HD and i like it a lot.

There are the usual cosmetic niggles like: small keyboard on screen, but the predictive text is good for compensating for big fingers..
The build quality is good, it's an aluminium shell with plastic slide covers for the sim, SD card and the Battery. But there are a few people who complain that the plastic covers are not flush with the rest of the body (but most can be fixed by reading the instructions about how to remove / attack the covers properly!)

The insides are not exactly set right, if you get one from a bad batch the insides are about 1/2mm lower than the holes in the shell, it's nothing major. this causes the power button to be flush with the body which may be a good thing, less likely to be turned on or off when in the pocket!
As i said this is mainly cosmetic and has not effect on the operation of the phone.

The actual usage of the phone is great! no had a dropped call on the "Three" network. i get all my email via Gmail so mail/calander/contacts is all integrated and can be added quickly.

There's a bit of an art to battery management (there are loads of hints and tips for getting the most out of the battery). but from stock you'll get a working day out of the thing before you need to stick it on charge, i'm up to 18h between charges after tweeks (But I use the wireless constantly and it drains the battery like no tomorrow!) lol

I haven't used the Iphone, it's surely a great handset but for business purposes I believe the BB is a perfect handset. Great with emails and things like that. As you said Iphone is probably better with the internet access and definitely better with apps, but then if you don't need those...

I'll stick with the BB or try the HTC Desire HD for the Android system.
