I have ordered a refurbished humax 9200 from Humaxdirect for £89.95 guaranteed for 1 year.

  • I think it can get confusing as technology moves so fast, but having done some reading for when i want one then the choices seem to be as follows:

A freeview recorder is known as a pvr(personal video recorder) and this is what you need. They all have freeview built in anyway. Most will let you record one whilst watching another,or even record 2 whilst watching another channel.Read what it says on the box first or ask an assistant.

The other option is a dvd recorder.Similar idea but you can record programmes to a dvd to keep as you wpould have done video tapes.the only downside is that i believe there is less storage space on the disc and possibly a bit more difficult to operate.

Hope this is a bit clearer now(this applies to freeview. If you have sky or virgin or freesat you will need a compatible pvr for these systems)

    Clear as mud really!

Whatever recorder you get it has to have a freeview tuner in it to get the stations. If you get a plain dvd recorder you will need a freeview box (tuner) to input the signal. Recorders that allow recording one while watching another have twin tuners and as the tv has a tuner that is unnecessary. The freeview recorder can record the station that it is set to and then you can watch any channel you like on the TV.
Freeview programmes/films are shown about 8 times a week across a variety of channels and then likely to be repeated, en masse, again two or three times within a year. So recording them seem slightly unnecessary, though watching - I'm a strictly an X celebrity factor please waste your money by phoning the vote line because your vote counts and can make a difference does stop critical thinking and thus anxiety in the populace.
main stream media is a propaganda machine for the establishment.
