Have to agree with some of the above posts , that the difference is that the m3 blades will last 2 or three weeks (better steel?), the cheapies tend to last only once or twice , You can make do but end up with shaving rash , and less comfortable , was buying my blades from local car boot dealer for approx .50p-70p each , by the way if there are any offers on the womens venus , they fit and give a better shave still , probally better shaving gunk around them andy0

Try 'Somerset Shaving Oil' available at Boots and Sainsbury's £2.99. I've also been told that some of the 'Pound shops' have it. I think it is much better than other oils. Your only meant to use 3 drops - but use a couple more. I've found, for the best results, that a wee bit soap on top of it gives a great shave. I use the Mach 3 and it seems to makke the blade last a lot longer.
P.S. when I started using the oil I told my wife that I was going to complain to Somersets as the bottle didn't last half as long as expected, when my daughter chimed in that "it was great stuff for her legs" - so hide it.0 -
Interesting thread - I also keep going back to the Mach3s after trying loads of others
Cheapest I can find at the moment is this place: http://www.creamofcreams.co.uk/gillette_razors.html just ordered 4 to test them out, hopefully they're okay (works out at £1 less than amazon for 8 and no need to find something else to add to get the free delivery)
When Which? (consumers association) did tests on razors their best buy was the Mach3 turbo (athough I prefer the standard mach3) - the only own brand 'best buy' was the tesco one (matrix triple blade) although they said it "doesn’t perform as well as other Best Buys in safety and durability tests".
Would love to spend less on blades (Gillette is wealthy enough!) but still looking for a viable alternative......
Just to add - the best shaving gel/foam I have found so far is the 'Aubrey North Woods' one - lasts ages and much better than Gillette; King of Shaves; etc + more natural ingredients.
