On one of my grimmer days they tried to flog me life insurance and their will writing service when doing a normal branch transaction (ie deposit or withdrawal).

Other than that never been subjected to a hard sell.

thank you, i wasn't too sure whether I would qualify. I think i might pop in tomorrow to pick up an application form

For the record I opened 2 ISA Christmas bond accounts with NW today,

I called in the branch on Friday and collected 2 application forms, I filled them in at home and returned with them today together with the cheques and just gave them to the receptionist, she looked over the forms and checked our signatures on the computer and that was it, job done.
FWIW no appointment was needed or requested and no attempt was made to sell me anything else.

Top marks to NW I say.

Was that in fact one ISA and one non-ISA? As I recall only one account of each type was permitted.
