If you think it's another sort of laptop, you won't get the benefit.
the quote was " its as good as a laptop, but you need a computer"
no point trying to pull me up on semantics
I wont get the benefit as i think its over priced for what it is/does0 -

I can use a 2010 imac , 2010 compaq and dell running windows 7 and use the ipad 90% of the time.
Its worth every penny compared to a £400 windows laptop0 -
Apple are renowned for bringing out products with "bits" missing and then releasing "upgrades" as MAC heads will always upgrade. I will buy one in the future as I love the technology but I will wait until I am able to move photos from a camera to iPad without buying additional bits, if I have a USB port then additional equipment can be attached a webcam would be fantastic etc etc etc...........0

I love my iPad but I had a specific use in that my eyesight was poor and enlarging text by the pinch method proved very useful. I should say I have never had a laptop and since owning the iPad rarely use my pc.
I would say that I have heard a rumour that the next generation ipads will have carbon fibre shells making them very light and that Apple are thinking of possibly launching a 7 inch version. But this may be some way ahead and of course, it may be wrong.
I find the wp and spreadsheet easy to use but I wouldn't say I do anything very complicated. I downloaded the free Kindle app which I find good because it has some very large fonts which I have not been able to find locally in dedicated book readers. It's very good for viewing photos, playing music and audio books (like the iPod). I suppose I find it very flexible. If we are out and about or away, we take payg internet with us if required. The bottom line is that if I lost it or broke it (having not been an Apple fan in the past), I would definitely replace it and having had one since mid-April, I have had the time to get fed up with it.
If you have enough vouchers to buy one, if it were me, I'd wait to see if the next generation came out in spring. As for other tablets, i have no experience of them, though I believe Apple touchscreen technology is supposed to be second to none (according to the electronics engineer I'm married to!), and I'm not sure there is a huge price difference. not! personally i think is overpriced piece of junk for those with too much money to spend! i mean who buys a machine that would only run software from apple (so you are tied for content) has no real form of direct connectivity also when first come out had serious wifi issues basically did not work.
and people would still buy too me sounds like i love apple i must have apple but i must justify it sort of so i don't feel like i have wasted money.
The truth is for the sort of money you are looking at start at £410 16gb upto £693 for 64gb prices
you can get a far superior laptop specs for that sort of money and really would have to be quite silly to buy with known issues and limits of the ipad but i guess there are always the fanboys out there.0 -
I wasn't going to get one, I have a iPod Touch (1st gen), iPhone 3GS and a MacBook Pro so didn't need one, nothing the other things won't do (better) and bloody expensive.
So I bought one when in America (£135 cheaper), played with it a bit and thought what a muppet I've been...
Got home, played with it a bit more, and more and more, I love the thing, never without it, hardly use my iPhone or MacBook and never used the Touch.
It's not a Laptop replacement, you need some form of PC to link it to every so often.
If I was to loose my iPhone, iPad and my MacBook, I'd replace my MacBook with the cheapest MacBook, replace the iPhone with an Orange San Fansico (unlock it) and I'd replace my iPad with another iPad, and the iPad would be the first to get replaced I use it so much.0 -

Personally, i don't see a lot i can do with one that i can't do on my HTC Desire HD, but i'm not the target market (i don't have more money than I need)0 -
Commendable honesty though....0
