MG, just asked OH and he said No Worries.

ETA He also said its not just a possibility he'll help you make it happen yay

Aw!!! He sounds lovely - does he have a bruv????:rotfl:

The old Accom Officer for the local college has just been around (she can hear a kettle boiling from three hills over):D

She has suggested turning the double into a twin - so having three beds, then doing B&B for the students fromthe Childcare courses. Advantage being that most of them go home at weekends.

She thinks the fact that we are Montessori home and pre-schooling would be an advantage IYSWIM. Sounds like a pretty full on job.

Her other suggestion would be to let the single to the college and find a PHD student or a (Monday to Friday) mature student for the double. That way it's more "adults" living together if that makes sense.

OMG!!! Got a feeling this has grown arms and legs of its own now.

    Off to finish the classroom.

MG - round here lots of people do Mon-Fri for contractors on longish-term contracts at some of the big corporate offices locally. So you have an adult, who takes their laundry home :) And it has the advantage (financially anyway) that they rent all year round, not just during term time. Although you may want the break! You could always use the rooms for B&B during the holidays...

On another note - how many bathrooms/loos do you have? If everyone is trying to get up and out of the house at the same time it could be chaotic ... and you don't want to be toilet training DS2 and having to wait for someone to finish in the bathroom :o

Students from the childcare course sounds good... they can practice babysitting for you :)

Do you think you could have even one room ready for the summer term, so you can give it a go and see how you get on.

MG - sorry, have to be real quick - do you still have the nappies needing a home? Me line manager's girlfriend is pregnant & we've persuaded him that these would be perfect - I can pick them up over the weekend if that's OK (& if you still have them)

Better get back to work now - Crickett - you'll get used to this speed sneaking too :p

That's great claire :) you should definitely do some classes.

And remember, you don't have to do ONE thing to make a business - you can do lots of different things (a portfolio approach), so as long as the jewellery makes a profit in the time you dedicate to it, that's great. So if you decided only to make jewellery when you were watching TV and looking after your friend's stall at the market for example, then that's fine, as long as you have enough to keep the volume you need on the website.

you could decide to take on a maximum of one cake a week - again, you'd have to work out how much profit you could make on the baking (and remember, those weeks you didn't have cakes to do, you could either do more jewellery, or work on models - they can keep for months - or bake cakes to freeze for when you need them, or do your admin!)

A bit like MG with her books, and mindmaps, and lodgers, and crafts. Lots of little things that stay fun can be just as much of a business as one thing that you concentrate on to the exclusion of everything else.

  • Hello Matrix peeps...

I am almost ready to cash my chips in for the week and head home for the weekend. Flipping heck... I need it! For some reason, it has felt like the longest week in ages. However... I have made it to the end, with only minor cuts and abrasions and a slight nervour twitch. :D

Plans for this weekend are for me to go to Lincoln to visit my bestie and my goddaughter. I might take hubby with me, but then again, I might not. Haven't decided yet! :D He needs to be on his best behaviour this evening, or else I shall put him to work in the garden!! Then Sunday is going to be Church as usual, looking after a little baby of a friend of mine, while she sings at the Mass after mine, and then home to do gardening come rain or shine. :) I might entertain myself with a quick trip to the garden centre as well! We shall see.

Have a great weekend folks. Lots of love and positive vibes to the whole matrix - and I will "see" you again on Monday... or maybe Sunday night if I can wrestle the laptop from the grasp of hubby!! :D
