I can not only imagine - I've got one myself - LOL.
"I have a Dream" - and a huge part of that is letting go of a lot of the stuff from the past to create a new life for me and the boys.
Its breaking my heart to pack away all of these things - but "keep only what is beautiful and useful"
I would give it all away today if I could have my dream of providing a great educational experience for my boys.
Sugah has sent me a quote saying "do you want to be the caterpiller or the butterfly?" - so I am being brave and preparing for the next change.

MG - a lot of the stuff you are getting rid of would go really well at a car boot sale - can you not find one this week/weekend and get rid of a week's worth of stuff. If it goes well, then aim to do a bootsale a week until you have cleared the house. That makes it manageable (one carload a week), plus helps to get the bank off your back.
Books go well... baby stuff goes well... as do really odd things like open cosmetics/toiletries, half-used candles etc. Also clothes and shoes at this time of year, as well as any spare seedlings you might have when your veg garden gets going. Don't throw out possessions that could be used as assetsand generate income for you.

I'd echo the bootsale idea MG, the stuff you are 'giving' away is highly saleable. And while giving it away is very laudable, I'm thinking disposable income that could pay of a little bit of mortgage.
think £125 as a chunk, - and while its only a small portion, its another portion achieved with things you already have. Charity shops are great things to give to, sometimes though, young lady, charity begins at home, and it might bring you a little closer to your objective..
I have done loads of carboot sales, usually with 'junk' and never gone home with less than £100 and thats including the cost of the table. The stuff you have clearing is much more saleable than my 'junk' was. Just thinking you can make it work for you in a way that will contribute to what you are trying to achieve.
Never made £100 in 2 hours in any job I ever worked at.
Thank you so much for last night Ladies, I didnt sort of say much. Just listened, made verbal nods, made notes and absorbed. Really appreciated it though xx
ETA> Love what Sugah said about the caterpillar or the butterfly. I think MG you are going to be what I call a Steel Butterfly, start spinning that cocoon girl, yay go you.0 -
MG: I agree about the carboot theories being put forward. I certainly would buy your Crative Home folders. I understand it's hard to de-clutter and painful at times, but I somehow thing if you could get something for it it eases the pain.
I'm half way throught the weekly housework blitz and then going to start project kitchen - sanding down the cupboards prior to repainting.
Thank you to Bitsy and Physcopathbabble for their comments on my diary last week am much more motivated and slowly getting back on tack.:jDebt at start of DMP 1/6/09: £2942 - £1942

I'm collecting stuff for a carboot - but making an effort to collect a third, donate a third, turf a third IYSWIM.
Mum is going to help me do a carboot when the season kicks off - and funnily enough my target is £125.
I'd rather the baby stuff went ot someone we know - and an ulterior motive for the craft stuff (if I know where its gone I can always, ahem! borrow the odd card if I need to:rotfl:)
There's a funny yellow thing in the sky BTW - anyone local know what it is?

Maybe its time to set up a Matrix Library so that people can borrow/lend books - guess it would only work if people were in the area - or where perhaps prepared to pay postage costs etc.2020 Mortgage-Free Wannabes #20 £1495.03/£2760 OP0 -
Hmmmmm, I can see where you are coming from MG, but there is a little bit of the sentimental creeping in there, de-cluttering is about being brutal. If you wont use it in 6 months time, if its not valuable, you get shot (in theory anyway). Sometimes it can feel painful, but really its cleansing, it free's up space, it free's the mind and it makes way for the new. Psychological connotations sneaking in too lol.0

And what I am walking towards is taking DS1 for a year travelling around the planet - so he can hang out with lots of passionate people, having a truly "world schooled" year.
And no I have NO idea how I am going to achieve this - but I am sure that we cannot just up and go at the moment - with so many "things" holding us here.
It would so much sense to spend the next few months ebaying and car-booting. But part of me feels that a quicker route may be to clear the obstacles, let some rooms (or let the house) and make some room to create something new.
It feels reckless, it feels scarey .............................. but at least I am feeling IYSWIM.
Wish I had the peeps from the "Life Laundry" here though - could do with someone sitting here with a cup of coffee going "don't stop - keep on going"
BTW - most of the stuff I am getting rid of is just "stuff" - all the precious stuff, the photos, the first shoes, the precious books will get kept.
