And I couldn't watch BBC 1 last night - in fact, I couldn't watch anything as there was a power cut from 8.30 to 11. Had to go & dig out the blackout box to get the wind up radio to listen to.
Had a great night with that & a book though....
Very sad, an amazing actor - so versatile and a very expressive face. Loved him and Thora Hird in an adaptation of a Deric Longdon book (wish I could think what it was called!!!) and Brassed Off but there are many more examples of his work.:):j Proud Member of Mike's Mob :j0 -

Deric Longden is a favourite author of mine too. Peter Postlethwaite starred in his second TV drama (from wikipedia):
- Diana's Story (1989) concerned life with his rapidly deteriorating wife, who was suffering from an illness that doctors could not understand. This book became a TV production in 1993 called Wide-eyed and Legless starring Julie Walters, Jim Broadbent and Thora Hird. In America this was shown under the title The Wedding Gift.
I too loved Brassed Off. You could always be sure that if Peter Postlethwaite played a part in something, that it would be worth watching. RIP Peter.
GQ xoxIf you have a talent, use it in every which way possible. Don't hoard it. Don't dole it out like a miser. Spend it lavishly like a millionaire intent on going broke.

Pete Postlethwaite was a lovely man. Because of connections my sister http://www.loisnaylor.com/home.html was able to play Gloria in the theatre based version of Brassed Off, a very talented actress and trumpet player so the part was tailor made.
She is amazing, now a mother of 2 and still treading the boards.0
