Hi, I have been having problems using my wireless connection to the internet through my Tiscali router. I have spent over 5 hours on the phone to indian callcentres with engineers who often do not understand me and that I cannot understand. They keep telling me its my wifi dongle, even now after Ie bought a new dongle and spent another hour on the phone with an engineer.
Following my second call with them today they now want me to buy a new router and extend my broadband contract. Is there any where I can complain and get this situation resolved without it costing me any more money? So far it will have cost me 6 hours of 0871 calls (they never call back when they say they will - 3 times now), £20 on a new dongle and lots of waisted hours.
Can anyone help? I Know Tiscali help centre cant, can they be rated lower than 0 for customer care!!

Have you tried changing the wireless channel that you are using?
Move the router away from any other wireless devices you may have, wireless AV senders DECT phone base stations etc.
Download and scan your surroundings with inSSIDer to see if other wifi transmitters are interfering with yours.
BTW Are you certain that the router is maintaining its internet connection when you get drop outs? That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
It's not really a Tiscali issue. If their router is transmitting a signal that your adapter cannot pick it then how can it be their fault?
The problem is that TT's tech support is useless, which is one reason why they're cheap. 6 hours and they don't suggest a change of wireless channel? No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
Use an ethernet cable and connect your computer to the router (do not have the dongle connected at the same time) and see if you get drop outs.
Most dongles allow you to see the signal strength, is it very low.
As per Penrhyn download inssider here http://www.metageek.net/products/inssider and look at your signal strength and others if your cannot see your dongle software strength.0 -
Yes, why is this Tiscali's problem? You don't blame the water company if your garden hose is blocked. The Internet. Allowing little people to get a power trip since 1996.0

I also had a bad experience with Tiscali tech support. In the days when a lot of people were still on dial up, they managed to sign me up to both broadband and dial up at the same time and NEVER managed to sort it out.0

Just to point out Tiscali is no more, it was bought by CPW and users are being transferred to their Talk Talk network. That gum you like is coming back in style.0

Tiscali as a brand has in fact disappeared and it now falls completely under TalkTalk and their incredibly dire customer disservice and dreaded Indian Call centres. Do a search on here and you will see the zillions of posts about their dreadful service. Don't waste your time and money by phoning their premium rate support numbers in India.......as soon as you are able to leave when out of contract, migrate to a better ISP, preferably one whose customer service department speaks English and is not in India........believe me, the aggro of trying to sort any problems or get proper advice from them, is just not worth it...........0

Instead of complaints here you might be best to either use the Tiscali User forums and post your symptoms OR post your symptoms products and settings here and some kind sole may be able to help .

The broadband connection is fine when using the ethernet cable. The wifi dongle cannot connect to the router as it only appears for an occasional second or two. I can however pickup numerous neighbours routers. Tiscali agreed to call back on Tuesday afternoon and the call finally came last night. This engineer has agreed the problem is probably from the wireless router and are now sending a new box.0

I also emailed the customer complaints department through the web page on Saturday and as yet they haven't even confirmed receipt.
Can anyone suggest a good broadband provider for Devon. BT say the line speed is too slow and they will not offer any broadband service.
Slow broadband is better than none at all tho!!!0
