Do you like being around children?

Unruly yobs - no.
As for the old barren heffers & bulls that constantly whinge about children (good and bad), having been too selfish to reproduce - most definately no!
I can think of quite a name for an insulting idiot like you Mr.
It is actually selfish to reproduce when you don't like children. MANY of the men and women today reproduce many children when they cannot stand them, they are merely a meal ticket (benefits - remember the plastic surgery 'breasts' women in the Daily Mail who had 6 and lived with an income of around 30K who boasted about her lavish lifestyle, plastic surgery and 3 MacBook Pro computers for her kids on benefits?) having kids is an income to her and many others, its a lifestyle - looking at her and how she lives, no earth mother is she
There are also women who breed children to trap men if they can and often do, when the men did not want children (surprisingly quite a lot of men don't if you ask them and they feel able to be honest)
The men and women who choose not to have children are not selfish, they don't bring an unwanted child into this world, they don't breed one and then abuse it like some do by neglect or cruelty or palm them off on Social Services when the going get tough or the men they had them with get going...
To not have a child when you don't like them or want them is an act of kindness and maturity. Less unwanted kids in the world, less damaged kids in the world, less problems for the future.
We are also overcrowded in the world and in the UK, we really don't NEED any more kids, we have too many already!0 -
I'm still pretty good after 33 years with other people's children.
I wouldn't want them now, but being confined with around thirty, day in, day out, still seemed infinitely better than the alternative of having to work with some of their parents.
Despite what you read in the Daily Heil, most classrooms are pretty civilized compared with some other workplaces, where a veneer of decorum may hide nasty behaviour.
Sure, kids may be annoying little turds at times, but at least they are up front with it, and they rarely bear grudges.

You never did any of the above as a child yourself ? Misbehaved occasionally ? Or had your parents shouting at you or your siblings to 'stop that' or 'put that down' ?
Find that very hard to believe.
You may have missed my point. I covered that. In my day, "Stop that" (or similar) meant it. It is how you learn. I was specifically talking about the almost universal habit these days for parents to say it time after time after time, thus teaching children not to do what they are told - since there is never any 'retribution'.0 -

Correct.
The 'retribution' bit doesn't have to be huge but there has to be a sanction for bad behaviour.
Eg. Generali, our suave, handsome, witty, surprisingly modest hero: Stop doing that thing
The Boy: No!!!
GOSHWSMH: TB, you need to do what you are told. Stop it or you will lose [favoured toy] for [defined period of time]
TB: NO!!!!
GOSHWSMH: 1......2.......[usually that's the end of it but occasionally we get to....]....3
GOSHWSMH: Ok, toy gone. Them's the rules. Sorry pal. Are you done now? I don't want to have to take anything else from you.
Usually some tears follow but then he's 5 so he'll cry now and again and I'm certainly not going to apologise for chastising my kids in public.
Kids should be well raised and Mrs Gen taught me all the good stuff about kids being taught the rules and how to teach them.
I find the hatred of children by many posters on here utterly dispiriting and hateful and a small part of why I will not raise children in the UK.0 -
i used to hate kids before i got married for the second time! i hated my nephews and neices as they grew up and the feeling was mutual. When i remarried i inherited a step daughter of 9 and my oppinion has been radically changed! she is the light of my life along with my new wife. i so enjoy kids now i even teach them..... ps i dont live in the uk where they still pee me off!!mfw'11 No68- 55k mortgage İO--little to nothing saved! i must do better.0

The problem seems to be that most people find children objectionable when those children have not been well raised. Parents seem to think that it's ok to leave them with childminders/relatives/after school clubs instead of engaging with them and teaching them how to be sociable and considerate.
Have just come out of Sunday School and spent the whole morning on my knees playing Frustration with a lovely bunch of children who didn't cheat, supported and helped each other etc but that's the area we leave in - people mind about how their children are feeling and put time into being with them. They support them at school and make sure that weekends are spent on walks or visiting museums.
The problem with this country is not the children but with the attitude that they are all someone else's responsibility.0 -
My neice has 5 young children and they are happy well behaved kids. my neice and her husband are christians and work hard at bringing their kids up and giving them lots of attention. i never had kids because i knew i was too selfish and their are many parents in the uk who should have thought about how much hard work is required to bring up a child in this world!! --My wife's daughter was brought up well because my wife didnt work for many years with her and when she was old enough my wife's mum took over a lot of caring duties as my wife returned to a career as a teacher. The system of needing 2 incomes in the uk really making good parenting difficult!mfw'11 No68- 55k mortgage İO--little to nothing saved! i must do better.0

What a bizarre viewpoint. With the world population increasing exponentially, it hardly seems selfish. In case you hadn't already worked it out - the entire global financial system is predicated on the assumption that you're an idiot:cool:0 -

Come on Generali, you know as well as I do that most of the people on this board are still children themselves*.

Sorry but you are a hypocrite. Before you condemn us all in the UK (not just Engerland), IIRC you were going to start work for a large hedge fund in London which fell though due to the credit crunch. In case you hadn't already worked it out - the entire global financial system is predicated on the assumption that you're an idiot:cool:0
