BT BROADBAND Cancelation fee

You would have been notified of the charge in a letter or email, probably buried in a set of revised T&C's. The charge is for removing the tie pairs at the exchange and is levied on all ISP's by OR. By all means dispute it, but you have no chance of them canceling the charge. No free lunch, and no free laptop

I'm quite meticulous when it comes to keeping letters and emails (I've got every e-mail sent to me since 1999 and have taken a look through everything I've had off BT) and I'm 100% sure that there has been no written notification sent out to me - I keep those filed away too (that kind of thing mainly comes from my bank, HSBC, every couple of years, so I read them, take note of what applies, then file them away for moments like this). If I was to guess what BT are going to tell me, it will be something akin to "Oh you should have logged on to view your bill on your online account and you would have seen a notification stating that the T&Cs had changed".You would have been notified of the charge in a letter or email, probably buried in a set of revised T&C's. To help me understand the situation better, why is it that since 2008 OR have to remove tie pairs? I must confess I don't know what that means and why it is necessary.0 -
It's only since about 2008 that they've imposed a wholesale charge on the ISP's for this service-they've always had to do it.No free lunch, and no free laptop

Has anyone experienced a cancellation fee of £25 when moving their broadband from BT? I fulfilled my contract and was with them for 24 months.
BT are useless and I will never go with them for any service unless it is absolutely necessary!
You need to realise BT are doing what everyone else does so quit your whinging!
if you don't like BT fine go you will be back once you realise our internet is better than Mr Rupert Murdochs!!0 -
And I am having no problems with my new providers!! BT are USELESS and their customer service is even worse!! Ridiculous charges which they throw at anyone who threatens to leave them. Why do they do this? Because they know they cant keep customers happy and stay so they make them scared to leave!!!0
