BT BROADBAND Cancelation fee

Has anyone experienced a cancellation fee of £25 when moving their broadband from BT? I fulfilled my contract and was with them for 24 months.
BT are useless and I will never go with them for any service unless it is absolutely necessary!

When you end your broadband service and do not request and use a migration authorisation code (MAC) or another recognised transfer process to move to another service provider you will have to pay a cease charge of £30. You will not have to pay this charge in the event you are moving home and we are unable to provide the service at the new UK address.
Some other Broadband companies charge you if you leave Broadband without moving elsewhere.0 -
Try search on the forum for your query as this keeps cropping up.
Generally if you migrate to another ISP (not cable) there is usually no charge to you.
If you cancel then there is, you have to pay for the work to remove the connections on your line at the exchange.0 -
The £25 charge is standard across all ADSL ISP's.
As above, it's the fee charged to cease ADSL on a line, whether it's BT charging you direct because they're your ISP or the fee BT charge your ISP for the cease, which is then passed onto you.Dave. :wave:0 -
I've moved twice and never paid a migration fee, nor has any company suggested I should.I ave a dodgy H, so sometimes I will sound dead common, on occasion dead stupid and rarely, pig ignorant. Sometimes I may be these things, but I will always blame it on my dodgy H.
Sorry, I'm a bit of a grumble weed today, no offence intended ... well it might be, but I'll be sorry.0 -

You're right, you don't pay to migrate, only to cease the ADSL on the line.Dave. :wave:0 -
I only moved company so therefore shouldn't need to pay a fee, plus I got the MAC code!0

Of course I used it. Moved to plusnet. THey sent me a copy of the terms and conditions and nowhere does it state there is a £25 disconnection charge!! So they have gave me evidence against themselves, that is how bad BT customer relation department is. AND without being racist it has came from someone who I would imagine isn't British, so probably from a call centre on the other side of the world!!0

I you did use a MAC, then you shouldn't have been charged, or is the PlusNet LLU?
