How to stop Graham White constantly phoning me?

Have had previous dealings with the delightful GW 'solicitors' over a parking fine at a hospital a few years ago - thanks to the template letters here they left me alone.

Got another ticket earlier this year - had bought a ticket but allegedly parked in the wrong bay - whatever, I know they can't do anything about it so am not particularly concerned.

However, for the past few months they have been ringing me EVERY day - I always get home from work to a message on the answer phone and if I'm in then I put the phone down on them. I often work nights and am getting fed up with them waking me up all the time.

Today they rang me again - Saturday morning, really??? - and I stayed on the phone long enough to tell them to leave me alone and I considered what they were doing to be harrassment - the rather unpleasant girl on the phone told me that actually they had to call me 3 times a day for it to be considered harrassment....clearly they have a lot of problems with people being !!!!ed off like I am!

Is there anything I can do? Obviously not going to pay them and I know they will give up eventually but it's driving me insane.

I suggest you make a complaint with the police (be firm and speak to the Inspector if the initial officers don't take it seriously) and also make a complaint to the Legal Ombudsman and give them the police reference number.

If a member of the public (or an ex-husband/wife) made that number of calls you can be pretty sure they'd be looking at the prospect of prosecution.

Graham White solicitors (Michael Sobell) will no doubt have to explain to the police why they've been making daily calls to you when the proper way to obtain the money that they feel they're owed, is to make a civil claim in the courts. Of course, they know as well as we do that if they did make a civil claim in the courts it would be laughed out as with other PPCs' attempts. They know that harassing members of the public is the only way they'll get their hands on any cash.
  • 1471 and get BT to block the number if its that much of a problem.

  • Tried that - blocked number - apparently even if it wasn't blocked, you couldn't do it because they use lots of different lines from one call centre.

Taking the mickey now - they've just called my mobile....how did they even get the number?
  • they were calling me for months, then stopped but i had another the other day, told her debt denied and i was reporting them for harressment.
unfortunately you can't get the number blocked if you're with virgin.
i've decided when they ring im just goin to put the phone down, i can't be bothered talking to them anymore.
  • Plan B. Answer phone, I'll get them, put phone down and ignore. Go to shops, watch telly anything. They'll soon get the message. All the while they think they are getting to you they think they may win.

Say (precisely), "Is this Roxburghe calling as GW?" - that's how they describe it in their action plan. It's NOT Graham White calling you. It's Roxburghe pretending to be them. Once they realise they've been rumbled, they'll probably leave you alone.

  • Been there and got the T shirt. If you can't get the number blocked, just be patient and hang up when they call. My dealings with them tend to be along the lines of....
"Can I speak to Mr/Mrs/Ms Xxxxxxx Xxxxxxx?"
    "Who's calling"
"It's Mandy from Grah......" Hang up.
They are persistant little sods, so you will have to be patient, but they will move on eventually. I wouldn't enter into ANY conversation with them as it is a waste of both time and effort.
