Tesco's Christmas deliveries

Thanks, just read this and moved mine to 22nd which is where it is staying at. Don't forget to checkout to keep your delivery date.0

I've never done a Christmas home delivery yet with any store, I'm just concerned that they'll be out of stock of something and I won't be able to get some essential shopping so close to Christmas Day, even through substitutions.
I think it comes from me going to my big Tesco to get some last minute shopping think it was the 22nd or 23rd a couple of years ago now, and they were out of LOADS of stuff I needed, ie fresh salad stuff (well I suppose you can understand that), potatoes and milk lol, and it put me right off. I had to rush to Waitrose and get the rest of the stuff I needed. I'd do it tomorrow though, if I could be sure that I would get everything I'd ordered! It just seems a bit too hit and miss for me.
I do an online shop every year, and to be honest, this has never happened. I think I was missing some pork pies last year which was not the end of the world.
The home delivery man told me that when you place your order, all the seasonal stuff will be reserved for people who have it in their baskets online. I had a problem with the meat I received being very short dated and I called tesco to tell them - 30 minutes later there was a knock at the door and it was a driver with more meat - more expensive pieces - in exchange for the short dated stuff. Did you go to the supermarket in the evening? If so, this is would be why your stuff was out of stock.
Thing is, if you are going to be shopping for salads and fresh foods you're not going to be doing that will 23rd anyway so it makes no difference if it is out of stock, go out CE and get it. It would go off otherwise.0 -
I remember last year when the vans broke down in teh snow, I think this year people should be extra extra careful buying their xmas food onlien
I would hate if someone couldn't get their dinner

I got the 22nd booked and then i will go to sainsburys locally to buy the very fresh things and the out of stocks, doing it this way i beat the cues by going to the basket checkouts.0

booked mine for 22nd as well, so enough time to nip out if I need to, not that I want to with 2 young children, hence why I do it online! Already have my turkey crownDebt free wannabe

Very strange - when I checked for a slot at 7.30am this morning both the 21st and 22nd were completely full. Just gone on again now on the off chance and had a choice of about 12 slots over the 2 days.
It's worth checking if you had no slots available to you earlier. Some may have appeared!0 -
thanks for reminding me. this morning all my slots were showing struckthrough but now they are open and have just booked 6-8pm Wed 22nd. Really couldn't face the scrum that is Tesco at Christmas.

Thanks to all who directed me to Quidco - £289.30 since Nov 09 :beer:0 -
I did most of my shopping today, at least for stuff that can be frozen. I'll get the veg and fresher stuff nearer the time, not sure I'd trust deliveries with this weather :rotfl:0

Well..... that is interesting. If I go into my slot dated 21st, ALL delivery slots are available to choose from through to 21st.
If I go into the one dated 22nd, all the delivery slots for 21st are unavailable.
I have logged in with an old address and I can choose all dates on 21st. So have a play around, maybe start a new email address.0 -

Thank you so much for that! I had 21st booked but when I checked this morning all the 22nd slots had been taken. Wouldn't normally be a problem but I'm away for a few days and not back until the 22nd. Just checked again after reading your post and managed to get one for the 22nd :jGOD BLESS DURAN DURAN
