I tried this on Friday in a store that had the 'min spend £30' posters up, hoped that the offer wouldn't kick in but the cashier (female of course, they know the score!) did a manual adjustment in front of my eyes!
Its funny how you mentioned the fact of female cashier, I always go to a male cashier if I want on overprice, they never pay any attention or just don't care?0 -

Absolutely what I do too, those young lads are the best at not noticing stickers on books and DVDs, and scanning more coupons than they should!
Sadly I was in a Metro and they only had Women cashiers, so I picked the youngest one but it didn't work (middle-aged women are the jobsworths about coupon-use so I avoid them at all costs). Never mind, I may try again in another store soon, and if lucky with an R&R I will just take back the first copy for a refund.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Do you have insider knowledge, Sandybrag?
Perhaps Spa or Constantine could confirm or deny this.
It seems to me that anyone, even those not in the 'know' could check their receipt, discover the charging error, & go to C/S.
Imagine- pensioner buys for Xmas prezzies, finds the mistake, goes to C/S, pleasantly surprised at her good luck getting her money back & gets to keep the choccies. A stroppy Tesco employee stops her at the door and tells her never to darken their doors again! Why? she asks. You're a serial abuser of our refund policy!
Could that happen d'you think?0 -

Hudds Tesco, 2 gold tins for the offer price, ie no extra discount0

I have been asked by a middle-aged female Tesco cashier to agree with you that they are far more vigilant about these things, this is because they are longterm employees of Tesco. They know that if you allow these breaches of store policy to go through regularly you are hauled off upstairs and told off about it, after being halued off upstairs about five times you are sacked. Most of the lads and young ladies don't last more than 6 months
I would be extremely surprised if Tesco management were that efficientApparently there's a bulletin out on the Tescos network advising them to catch the CCTV footage of people returning Quality Street tins for a refund, espeically in lots of two. Management are advised to issue a ban on site, apparently. Thanks to all who post constructively.

Nobody would be returning for R&R anyway because the correct price had been charged. They would be returning them because they had not been undercharged.
If anyone was stupid enough to go to cs and say "I want to return these because I expected you to undercharge me and you didn't", then they deserve banning from every shop in the country for being stupid!!!!!:rotfl:0 -

That's a little harsh isn't it? I don't think it fair if staff are allowed to be stupid but customers not.:rotfl:Four guns yet only one trigger prepare for a volley.Together we can make a difference.0
