  • Are you guys aware on the back of these increases which are only to standard packages..they are offering the longest capped price on the market which will make sure you dont get hit with any price rises at all..Capped till dec 2012..they are capped at march 2010 prices. If rates fall in that time yours will too. win win
  • also are offering me energy saving online 11 ..unit rates on electric as little 8.04...gas 2.8????
  • Michaelmontana, that deal is the one I'm trying to transfer to, but on their website it's no longer possible to apply for it. How did you do the transfer?

Does anyone know, with the Online Energy Saver tariff 10 they introduced a charge of £30 for gas and £20 electricity which may be applied if you switch to another tariff or cancel the supply before X month (July 2011 if I recall) if they increase the tariff to our material disadvantage - how is that defined please and do you have a right to leave without penalty due to this increase? I believe electricity will increase around 5% and gas 1% (but if on a dual fuel tariff, is it the combined increase that matters?).

    Many thanks

    Dear Forum ,
For me in the Manweb area on Online Saver 7 No Standing Charge tariff the rises (inc VAT) are as follows :
    Electricity
    Primary units 2010 225 @ 16.482 For 2011 225 @ 18.051 9.52% +
    Secndry units 2010 xxx @ 11.430 For 2011 xxx @ 11.759 2.88% +
    Gas
    Primary units 2010 1143 @ 3.437 For 2011 1143 @ 6.414 86.6% +
    Secndry units 2010 xxxx @ 2.413 For 2011 xxxx @ 3.033 25.7% +
Well I really feel 'special' now , time to switch I think ,
    Best Wishes

I'm looking at similar levels of increase in the ScottishPower supply area.

Has anyone else noticed that the price comparison websites have not updated the tarrif details to make it easy to compare prices?

I am currently with Scottishpower (Economy 7 electricity only) and was on the Discounted Energy December 2010 offer. This was to end on 30 November, with a penalty for leaving before then.

The website just says they'll be contacting people on this deal before 30 November to let them know of a new special offer especially for us. When I log in to my account, it now says I'm on "Online Discounted Energy (Extended to Dec 2011 (No Standing Charge))". However, there is no way to find out prices from the online account, and no letter in today's post. I'm a bit annoyed that they can't e-mail me with the details, given that it's an online-only account. (Unfortunately I didn't find this out until the call centre had just closed for the weekend).

Is there anyone else on a similar tariff who's already received the letter? I would like to switch to EDF to take advantage of the cashback (£125 via Quidco) but would really like to know what Scottishpower are offering me before I do so. (I reckon it's safe to switch now as it won't go through to Scottishpower until next month, but I should get the cashback for signing up before the end of November...)

If anyone has the letter and can post the prices, that would be appreciated. Don't worry if you have gas too or are in a different region. Any information is useful as I can then look up what it'd be for me.

Try http://www.scottishpower.co.uk/support-centre/products/previous-products.aspx and click the '2011' followup to your current tariff.

The comparison websites use Online Energy Saver 11, which Scottishpower told me is their cheapest tariff, and therefore cheaper than the '2011' extensions being offered to existing customers, but check this for your usage and region (and then move to EDF).

Are you sure Quidco is £125? I believe the cashback on Quidco is £80 and Topcashback is £80.80.

Thanks for the link. The Discounted December 2011 prices have appeared since last time I looked at that page!

Interestingly, for me it's only a 3% increase on the daytime rate, but a whopping 11.5% off-peak increase.

I notice it says the £30 penalty applies "if you switch to Discounted Energy December 2011 Offer but then cancel your supply contract". As far as I'm concerned, I haven't switched to this as they haven't asked me!

The EDF offer via Quidco is £50 cashback for electricity only, plus the £75 EDF themselves are offering. So for dual fuel you can receive £100 + £80.
  • Id love to know where they get 8.9% from.

I have just checked my latest bill and I can see the day time cost went from 10.031, now 12.105p an increase of 20.5%

the night time units went from 4.979p, now 5.847p an increase of 17%

and the standing charge was 18p a day, and is now 21.28p a day, an increase of 18%
