We have just bought a epad from ebay and it is fab. I have friends who have an ipad and are amazed at how similar they are. As far as we can see the differences are the photo's cannot be touch zoomed, The internal memory isn't fab (just sorted that by using a 32gb micro sd card in the epad) and if anything our screen is too sensitive to touch lol! I have also had a look at the apps available wityh it and there are loads. So £130 for a 10" epad has been money well spent so far

    *****UPDATE******

Money well spend was a load of tosh lol! Epad is faulty and soo are a few other friends ones that bought from the same ebay seller who now will not replt to emails or telephone calls. Just a word of warning :o

Some good deals on the original iPad now. If you get a refurbished one it's even cheaper

From what ive read on these battery life isnt supposed to be that great though

of course it isn't, its a 250+ saving, one thing has got to suffer,
To the poster, if you can't afford the ipad, then the android is the way to go, (find a model on ebay and search google for a review).
The hard touch problems can be sorted mostly with calibrations, making sure you only lightly touch the screen etc.

I myself can afford an ipad and still i sold mine within a week and got the android, never felt so ripped off for something that reads books for so much, the battery lasts for 3 hours and is enough for me, most trains have a plug if i needed it that much, the androids also sometimes have hdmi out, something apple do not offer and i like to play movies etc out of my tv in hd. the quality will lack but imo android wins for software and i can deal with having it on charge. and the option for external memory is something that apple will unfortunatley never offer.

But then again, its cool to have an ipad

edit: please note there are some dodgy sellers on ebay, but from reputable seller, they are out there and the do sell them around 150
  • I have been looking at Ipads:
    want the portability
    clear display
    use internet while abroad
    wordprocess

but am worried at how difficult it is to transfer files to and from it. I want to be able to store kmz files (maps) on the Ipad and then transfer them via usb to my gps (which can only use one at a time.)
Can anyone tell me if this is easy to do?

The archos range of tablets may be suitable? Probably better than some random Chinese device off eBay

You can't do that. The Ipad is a closed device. It's very good at doing what you are allowed to do, and very bad at doing anything else.
I've got one, btw. It's my only Apple product, and it really works well for me. I still use the laptop for doing serious work, but it's easy to pick up the Ipad for a quick look at something on the internet. It's full of video, books and games, and highly portable. Battery goes on forever.

Ok so if I can't transfer files back and forth its not for me - thx.

I'm curious to know what a claret villain does to warrant the name.

Do you sip expensive wine while reciting illegal poetry?
