  • OK, have bitten the bullet and to my shame the 'tiny credit cards'and Nexxt aren't so small!:o

I am repaying Nexxt asap, should be cleared by end of July. Then will be the Card with my Son's car insurance on it, hopefully will clear that by end September, then on to my main credit card as the other one is interest free fo another 6 months after that and should then revert to a cheaper rate than the others.

As well as this I am hoping to build an emergency pot of £1000 by end of the year as we have nothing. Will be asking the mortgage company for a 2 month repayment holiday when DH has his op in the summer to take the pressure off him returning to work too quickly and if they agree we will put the money aside in case of emergency (if he gets paid that is). What a pickle but I should be getting more hours/promotion in the very near future so that will help.

Am glad I have finally taken my head out of the sand, onwards and upwards!!!

  • Have been snowballing and if I push myself to pay an extra £200pm off of credit (on top of the minimum payments) I could clear all of my credit card debt in 2 years which would then allow me to save up and repay my loan a whole year early. That would be amazing! Really need to focus on this.

Ooooh fab news about your promotion and new hours - well done you
I really should be amending my signature - what with CC's being right back up there, plus Nexxt a/c plus weight gain -
Think it's gonna make for some depressing reading - but at least i'll know where i'm at:eek:

Off to check out the new local gym tomorrow (i hate gyms with a passion and what with 4 stone to be losing, i'm not currently up for completing a marathon anytime soon - in fact i can't remember the last time i properly exercised, probably when i was at school!!! - i think it's going to be way too expensive per month to justify but i think they have a pay as you go option at around £5 per visit and then at least i'm not tied into a contract when i decide after the first week not to go!!!!! - :rotfl:

Feeling as though i'm back to square one on all levels but hey at least i'm feeling upbeat and know that i'm gonna have more time soon to re focus. ( and ebaying lol xxx)

Thank you for your culinary inspirations - it all sounds lovely, so i'll def be making use of your ideas - i'll let you know what the family think!!

Spag bol for dinner from the freezer (big batch made in the slow cooker a few weeks ago ) i'm sure DD1 will be groaning when she realises that's whats for tea as its not her most favourite -DD1 hates most things remotely healthy (how dare i put onions and tomatoes in the spag bol!!) and DD2 is a reallllllly heathy eater, DH won't eat anything unless it has meat in it (neanderthal man i think!!) and i hardly eat any meat - mealtimes can be fun fun fun!!!!

I'll sort out my new signature later and hopefully be able to get some money in savings as well as paying off debts - here we go back on the rollercoaster

    Have a good day xxx

  • Hi Hun,

Can't believe how alike we are, CC and Nexxt debts, trying to save, trying to loose weight, trying to get our houses and gardens up to scratch, denying our true financial situation in our signatures, lol!! We will have to support and encourage each other to knock these debts on the head. Am hoping my promotion will mean a little extra each month but until I know how Tax Credits etc will be affected it's hard to say, especially with DS1 leaving college.

Well done for joining the gym, I can't stand them personally! Am trying to loose 2.5 stone, hubby needs to loose about 5 (He has already lost a couple!). We are using Apps on our phones to keep food diaries, calculates your intact as you add foods and gives you extra allowances for doing exercise. Suits us and seems to be working, certainly makes you aware of what you are eating. Hubby is using the crosstrainer he bought and we are trying to walk more, to and from work etc.

Double shift again today but I am not organised foodwise and DD has swimming lessons this evening so I think they might go to the chippy for their dinner! I will be good and take something into work for mine.

The forecast is rubbish for the weekend which means no progress on the conservatory and our friend is away next weekend so no progress then either. I keep looking on Ebay for kitchen cabinets but think we might go to the local 'sheds' and see what they have on offer or in their budget ranges as it's only for the utility end and we will only need a few units. We are going to tidy and clear out the garden shed/workshop at the weekend as I know there are some bits and pieces left from when we rejigged the kitchen so will see what is there. We may have some units we can use and some of the doors in the kitchen could do with being replaced so if there are bits in the shed we could just get any odd bits we need from BnQ as they still sell that range. Fingers crossed.

    Take care
    321 xx

    Hey hun

Yes we definately do sound alike - i started (only a few pages in) reading a book written by 'The diet doctor' who draws a connection between weight loss/gain and spending habits - i.e when eating habits out of control finances tend to be the same - cc's get paid off then used again, weight gets lost and then gained - hmmmmmm i think i'm going to have to read more - i'll post if there is a magical solution!!!

Went swimming today (first time in ages actually swimming) as tend just to be watching or messing around with the kids when we all go but today went with a friend when the girls were at school -it was lovely, super quiet - i only managed about 15 widths but hey i guess i've got to start somewhere - i would easily go on my own again as it was nearly relaxing!!! - checked out the gym whilst i was there and think i'm going to book an induction (£20) and then do the pay as you go thing as i would definately want to go with a friend for a while until i gained my confidence!!!

We ended up getting take out tonight too - not ideal as any calories burned by swimming would have been gained back from food - oh well i guess i could have still had take out and not gone swimming which would have been worse!!! as had been out all day and hadn't made provisions for a meal - tut - my fault!!

Anyway i've got to get off now as just finishing a cake order for tomorrow and i've been dragging my heels with it tonight - i think i'm getting demob happy as only have 2 cakes booked in until my baking holiday - have a lovely weekend xx

  • Hi Trixie,

Wow that book sounds amazing, I can definately see the connection between the 2. I know if I am fed-up about money I eat rubbish and then I put on weight so I buy things to make myself feel better about myself and the debts go up and the cycle starts again!!!

Well done with the swimming. I love swimming (dreamt of being an Olympic swimmer as a kid, til they shut our local pool and dad wouldn't drive me the 25 miles to train) but our nearest decent pool is 25 miles away, we just have little fun pools locally, It's really not good as we live in a seaside area! DD does have swimming lessons but the pool is closed to the public at that time so I can't even combine a swim with hers!

Had a good weekend despite the weather. Decided that I should get on with decluttering/sprucing up the house so Saturday I cleared out and cleaned the kitchen cupboards, got rid of loads of plastic containers ( I'm sure they breed!). Was supposed to go out with a friend that evening but we were both tired so will do it another night. Sunday I painted the dog's bedroom (AKA the cupboard under the stairs) it was smelling a bit 'doggy so I glossed it right through so it is easy to wash down. Then painted the chimenea with bbq paint. then painted my DD's wooden garden furniture, all little jobs that I have been meaning to do for ages but never got around to.

Have been eating out of the cupboards over the weekend. Roast chicken and mixed veg on Sunday, mushroom curry saturday and yesterday I made a bolognese pasta bake with left overs. DH surprised me on Friday, was expecting him to go to the chippy after swimming lessons but he went home and cooked dinner for them all.

Haven't weighed myself for a few days but have been sticking to my calorie allowances and recording everything I eat so finger's crossed.

Finances are pretty rubbish but am hoping that by next month things will be looking up as my payrise will kick in.

Off to do some work now,

    Have a good day

    Hey lovely,

I've not got any further with my miracle diet book yet - so you'll need to wait a little longer for me to wave the magic wand with a solution - :rotfl:- but as you mentioned i can completely see the connection with the 'out of control' mentality being as a whole rather than just relating to certain parts of life - pheww enough philisophical talking for one day!!!!!

I'm off swimming again tomorrow, i looked into an annual swim membership as seemed to be quite a good deal but it was for a 12 month contract and i def don't want to be tied into something for that long just in case i need to cancel.

Well done you with getting on with your outstanding jobs - i find a lick of paint here or there and a bit of decluttering can make me feel sooooooooo much more upbeat, add in a bit of sunshine and i feel as if i'm on top of the world ( so long as i blank out thinking of weight loss or finances - lol lol)

A friend of mine gave us a lovely coffee table last week - far more expensive that i could ever justify affording and she didn't want anything for it as she was going to take it to the tip (NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO) - I am over the moon with it, it finishes off the living room beautifully (finally feeling like MY house) and my friend was over the moon with the selection of cakes baked in thanks.

Still yet to do my meal plans as just haven't made the time to do them ( completely my fault) - planned takeaway last night as it was our wedding anniversary - which was lovely but i'm sure the weighing scales arent going to be moving in the right direction this week -:rotfl:

Same here with the finances - RUBBISH - but hey roll on payday and then the fun can start again!!!!!! - have a good day xxx

  • Hi hun,

Ohhhh I wish I had friends that gave away expensive pieces of furniture:), lucky you.

    I have a confession..................

I bought myself a totally unnecessary 'promotion' present, it was MSE Martin's fault, I saw the sale a Kurt Geigers mentioned here and feel in love with a pair of £165 boots, don't panic though as they were reduced to £19!!!! Haven't yet fessed up to DH though! Still within my crazy clothes challenge budget so quite pleased with myself.

Busy busy at work as 1 colleague has left and another on long term sick so am rushing around all over the place trying to keep on top of things, was so tired that I went to bed at 8pm the other night!!

Living out of the fridge/freezer/cupboards as much as possible til payday, bought bread and milk yesterday. Will probs make hm pizza tonight after DDs dance lesson and the kids can have leftovers in packed lunches tomorrow. Might make a stew for the weekend if this wet weather continues!!

The weight doesn't seem to be shifting so have started a 2 week detox plan, will let you know if it has any effect!

    Back soon

OMG a pair of £165 boots for £19!!! - i would have bought half a dozen pairs!!!!! - Well done, that is a seriously amazing bargain!!

Hope your detox is going ok?? - i'm kinda rolling with a WW/SW mixed plan, so just cutting down on the take outs and trying to eat 'better' choices - seems to be lots of mushrooms/rice and salad (as its in the fridge!!)!! which is fine as i luvvvvv portabello mushrooms and have been making mushroom egg fried rice but in oil spray rather than reg oil - scrummy

As its nearing payday food shopping budget is a bit lean this week, so have bought a chicken which will do Sunday & Monday, there was an offer on gammon joints so have two of those and the rest of the week will have to be from the freezer - plenty bread milk and veg at the mo, so should only need to stock up on basics again around Wednesday.

Right then, now off to clear out DD2's bedroom as this week is her turn for a room makeover ( all i actually feel like doing is sitting on the sofa watching the telly but that won't get the jobs done!!) - have a good weekend xx
