  • Hi Trixie,

Sounds like you are having a good week, well done with the shopping. I'm getting paid next Tuesday and the ASDA order is booked, about £40 on meat, fish and basics.

Haven't done too badly this week, spent less than £10, had to buy crisps, bread, cheese, milk and potatoes as the children claimed there was no food in the house!!

Been a little bit naughty today, overslept so didn't have time for breakfast, didn't start work til 10 and wasn't worth going home after dropping off the kids so went to my favourite coffee shop and had a coffee and pain au raisin! On the plus side I am working 5 extra hours today and did 3 extra yesterday so I have more than earnt it. That reminds me; must update time sheet!

We have stuck to the menu plan, even though I was shattered yesterday and the last thing I wanted to do was make a turkey and ham pie, but I did and it was lovely.

4 days til paypay, 4 days til payday.

    LOL!!

    Hey hun,

Well done you on staying on track - it's hard when you feel super tired to be bothered with keeping to the 'plan' ( trust me i know!!!) - i had a wobble yesterday lunchtime (huge headache & tired), i could have so easily have sent DH off to KFC to get a bucket, but gave myself a talking to!!, took some more tablets and rustled up some lunch at no additional extra expense :A lol!!
I didn't get online shop this week as was so busy i forgot to book the delivery slot a few days ahead and by the time i'd remembered i couldn't get the time i needed - completely my fault!! (back to that being organised malarky again!!! - lol) but went armed to the supermarket with my rigid shopping list (this month setting a monthly food shopping budget & when it's gone it's gone!!) and did fine (phewwww) stockpiled on a few essentials that was on offer which will now last the month.

Ohhh coffee and pain au raisin - scrummy - you deserved a treat!! - i'm a caramelatte kinda girl - yum!!

    Have a good day xx

  • Hurray, payday at midnight!!:T

Already worked out my budget for this month, need to tax car, put some aside for the boys birthday treat and DS1s 18th, £50 deposit for DS2s Rugby Tour and pay bills. Have allowed £150 for food (£50 of which will be my ASd@ order tomorrow) and £150 for diesel, I am hoping this will be enough as it is a short month(ish) although we do have the dentist at half term!!

Have decided that to help the budget I need to carry on with eating out of the freezer/cupboards this month (and possibly next month too).

I am really hoping that when we take the boys on their mystery birthday trip DH puts his hand in his pocket for snacks etc as I have already pre-paid for the rail fares, tube passes, tour and lunch!! It's not that he's tight it's just that he seems oblivious to how much I have paid out, every time he pays for something he asks me for half but if I pay it is assumed that I have extra money to cover it, uh nooooo, he seems to think I earn mega bucks but that's not the case, have tried to explain to him but just easier to get on with it.

Will be interesting when he losses his job at end of March, he seems to think I will be able to suppliment his income!

TRIXIE - well done with the budgeting and shopping, I'm sure you will stick to your budget. I usually allow £200 for diesel and £200 for food but this month I have had to cut back to £150 for each, if it goes well will do the same next month.

Quite pleased with myself, ordered several things from the Nxt sale but have sent all back except from the shoes and dress which I have taken out of my Clothes Challenge pot even though they were bought with gift cards. Have bought DD a few basic bits in a larger size, things that will definately be needed like jeans, t shirts and fleece tops, nothing too 'trendy' that will date before she wears it. I like Nxt as it washes and wears well and in the sale it is no more expensive than Primarni!

Toiletries stash is diminishing, making sure I use up what I can. Didn't do too badly with the No Spend Days this month, will do better in February! Will also start taking my pennies prisoner this month!!

    Fingers crossed

  • ooh payday - i sure as heck let out a sigh of relief on the 28th & again today when DH was paid - still a tight month though as little overtime/car tax & extra bills from moving has swallowed any 'extra' up but it least it's all paid!!!
Primarni made me laugh:rotfl:, i'm the same as you - really like Nxt when it's sale time ( have just kept a lovely pair of next black patent shoes for work £14 instead of £30 which have only just arrived from the sale order weeks ago - yay) but Primarni is fab for DD1 when it's stocking up on more trendy stuff that you know is only gonna last a season or wardrobe staples & DD2 loves the fleecy all in one sleepsuits:D

I sympathise with yr DH haven't no concept of expenses - mine's the same - he can't under stand 'where the money goes' !!!! We've got a joint account so the money is pooled but he is very 'careful' with money to say the least but then i guess he has to be with me ( serial spendthrift:eek:)
Def gonna do shopping online at mr T's this week in light of getting a 10p off a litre of petrol voucher when over £40 spent - every little helps i guess - anyway off now to see if i've made my fortune on ebay - lol lol lol lol lol lol lol !!!!

  • Hi Trixie,

Sorry I haven't been online for a couple of days, been a bit hectic.

Having a chilled day today, both boys out doing things with friends, DH at work and DD at a friends playing. Going to do some cooking in a minute.

Groceries are all well stocked, got my order from ASDA and then saw the SUN's offer on Thursday of £6 off a £40 shop at Morrisons so went a got the few bits that I either forgot from ASDA or they didn't have and picked up some extra things we will need this month like cheese and ham for sandwiches. Loads of veggies etc so shoud be ok for a couple of weeks. Need to do a menu plan this weekend to make sure I use what is in the fridge and freezer.

Just ordered some snow boots in the Nxt sale, coming on Monday, my feet were so cold in town yesterday so they will be money well spent and I will take it out of my Clothes Challenge budget.

Right really must go and do some housework otherwise I will be playing catch-up all next week.

Oh and DS1 has had some good news, he has got a date for his test for the Army, fingers crossed he does well.

  • Mmmmmmm, just enjoyed a lovely sweet chilli chicken with noodles and spring rolls, all from the cupboard fridge and freezer.

Chicken casserole tomorrow as DS2 has a match and don't know what time he'll be back. He's playing 25 miles away, we were going to take him and pop to the cash and carry to redeem some half price vouchers they have sent us but when I looked again at the vouchers there were only a couple of the items which we would normally buy and the others we would have got 'just because' so a friend is taking him now and we can stay at home and get a few things done.

Very cold here today, had to have the heating on all day, snowed this morning but didn't really settle and then turned to rain. We're near the coast so its pretty unusual for us to get snow at all. Shame really!

Off to bed in a mo, feel shattered today.

    Night all

  • OMG it's almost a week since I posted!!

Been very busy with work and quite stressful at times, we put it down to the full moon doing funny things to people!!

My boots have arrived from NXT, reduced to £25 and I am thrilled with them. They are brown leather on the bottom and cream waterproof fabric on top and fur lined, almost identical in everyway to my friends boots from T!mberland only she paid £125 for hers!!:eek: She will be gutted shen she sees mine! So far I have spent £81 of my £260 Clothes Challenge budget but that has been due to buying in the sales.

Freezers etc still well stocked, ready for half term. I have got the week off so will be able to monitor their munching:rotfl::rotfl:and also do some home baking to keep them full. Got a couple of days out, one for the dentist:( and one for my sons Army test:). Will have to keep the purse strings tight on those days as by the time I have fed the car and the kids there wont be much left for impulse purchases. DD has a friends birthday party to go to so will let her choose a present from my stash and have plenty of cards and wrap so that's sorted.

Managed to get a large higher welfare chicken from the coop (how appropriate:rotfl:) reduced to £3 this morning and 2 packs of chicken breasts for £2 each so they can go in the freezer. Need to do a meal plan for next couple of weeks.

Have brought homemade broccoli and stilton soup to work today - delish. Made with 2 heads of broccoli reduced to 25p each and a large piece of stilton given to me by a friend as she wasn't going to use it. Got enough for 4 servings.

Managed to get 3 chicken breasts to stretch to 3 meals for the 5 of us this week and not a single complaint from my meat loving boys. Made a stirfry and used 1 chicken breast but sliced it really finely whilst it was still semi frozen so it looked like there were loads of pieces of meat in the pan (its just an optical illusion but it worked) and the other 2 breasts went in a casserole in the slow cooker with loads of veg and some lovely herby dumplings and fed us for 2 days.

Considering putting in an order with Big Brands for Less as they have some good deals on at the mo and I love there suet mix. Will need to do it for half term week so that I am home for delivery. Off to have a look at their site now.

  • Hey lovely,

Just popped in quickly as didn't want you to think i've disappeared!!! - it's been a manic week and doesn't look likely to settle down for a day or two yet and then it's half term - eek!!!

All good with me, keeping pretty much to budget and continuing to ebay my socks off to pay off cc ( since xmas have managed to pay off £500 - yay!!!) - life has got in the way a bit with ebaying but had lots already listed and seem to be selling well.

Anyway, must dash and hope to check in for a little longer once i'm back at work on Monday!

Have a lovely rest of weekend!!!

Hi there 3 2 1 (!). Well done on the debt busting you have done so far.

Have you ever done a Statement of affairs at all. Might it be a good time to do another one even so? The reason why I ask, is that I am VERY worried at your OH ignorance of your financial situation. He really needs to be aware NOW that you can't help him financially, and just what DS1 turning 18 will mean etc. If he can't accept the financial reality, then I think you will have to talk to him about a DMP.

Surely he can see that if two wages only JUST support the household bills and debts, then one wage isn't going to be able to do it?

I just don't want all your hard work undone
    chev
I want a job that is less than an hour driving away from my house! Are you listening universe?
