• Also had a letter this week saying that we will not be getting any more tax cerdits this year and that they think they have over paid us nearly £2000!!! Really makes me cross as I always tell them about changes as and when they happen.

Just had a phone call from DH, he is being laid off from one of his part-time jobs:(, he is paid weekly and has been there just over a year so only a week's notice and no redundancy!!! Do you ever feel the world is against you??? I think it may be to avoid paying him sick pay when he has his hip operated on which should be any time now!!

I thought that with my new hours we would be making some head way with the debts but at this rate we will be lucky to keep our head's above water. So wish we hadn't got the conservatory right now!!

Have told DH I need his new projected income for the year so that I can ring Tax credits on Saturday and tell them of his redundancy wef Friday.

Right I'm off to redo my budget and feel sorry for myself!!

• Thanks Lucielle,

It's not good, it's the second job he's been made redundant from this year! It's really knocked his confidence!

Hope you are doing ok.

• Thought it was about time I wrote a positive post so here goes.......
• We now have a conservatory (well apart from a bit of brickwork!). Have managed to get some lovely slate effect floor tiles at half price and won some kitchen units on ebay so all systems go.
• Took the kids to the dentist yesterday, aall 'perfect' according to him apart from DS1 who had an old grey filling (his only one) replaced with a white one and the lovely dentist said tell the desk you are still in full-time education!!
• Whilst shopping I have got some really good bargains this week; Bold liqitabs 75% off, lenor 40 wash bottles 75% off and shower gel for 10p! The first 2 were in Wilkos where I was stocking up on Stardrops and the shower gel in Superdrug! I've got oodles of laundry stuff now but I begrudge spending a fortune on these things and so stock up when there is a good offer.
• Managed a whole days shopping without buying myself anything (unless you count the bargain cleaning stuff!), did pick up a couple of things and then saw sense and put them back.
• Took DH for his appointment re his rehab following his op and on Monday we have MediQuip coming to install all of the adaptations, ie higher bed and chairs etc so hoping that means that he will have a date soon.
• Was hoping to car boot like mad all next week as on Annual Leave but the forecast is awful, will get Ebaying and ask DH to list stuff on Faceb@@k instead.
• Got 2 weeks off with kids so DS1 is going to get us a couple of days passes for the Holiday Camp where he works so we can go swimming, on the rides etc and if we take a picnic it won't cost anything.
• We are in major declutter mode at the moment, have 'pruned' our filing cabinets (we have 2 small ones and want to get rid of one of them) and ended up with 2 huge paper potato sacks of shredded paper!!
Quite a good week despite DH being made redundant, I feel better for typing that, it has cheered me up!!!:T

Tenth Anniversary Combo Breaker
Hey lovely lady,

Soooooooooo sorry i've not been waffling on with my usual ramblings!! - I've been off work for 12 whole days (holiday -yay) and at the start of those 12 days my home computer decided to have a funny 5 minutes (or 12 days even!!!) DH is a technical whizz but has been doing so much overtime he only had chance sort it last night properly and as my laptop gave up months ago we've made the decision to buy a new laptop so that we have a 'back up'!! (best get ebaying as the CC will take a hit!)
Back at work today (back online too yay yay yay yay), feels as though i'm back for a rest!! it's been rather full on what with DD2 birthday (her birthday and party went really well thank you :D), the new arrival (which unfortunately didn't work out - to cut a very long story short, being a rescue she had unknown behavior problems which meant she had massive issues with DD2 and after a day of snapping, nipping and a serious amount of dominence we decided she wouldn't be able to stay - the decision has since been taken that she is unable to be homed with younger children :()

Anyway back to you - I'm sooooooo pleased that the conservatory has taken shape :T and i'm so glad you enjoyed your night away camping.
I'm really sorry to hear of your DH's redundancy - my DH was made redundant 3 times in 3 years and he was really low about it all but hopefully things will start to look brighter soon (((hugs)))

Once we've got the laptop i'm determined to get back with ebaying in a big way!!! - i always used to bay in the quiet of my kitchen on my laptop and since it's been broken then thats my excuse for not baying (ahemmm..... lol lol)
As for Tax credits (tut!!) - we had our letter earlier in the year telling us we were no longer eligable - i can barely believe it! - yet again as working families it's another financial knock!
Anyway lovely - hav to shoot to do some work - 'speak' soon

Hey lovely,

Thought i'd just whizz on for a quick update - hope all is well with you and yours and you've been a tad 'quiet' - i'm hoping it's because you are having a fun filled week rather than anything else xxx

Well, we took the plunge and bought the new laptop last week - DH set it up and so in theory i should be avidly using it but in reality i've been so busy the last week i haven't even opened the laptop case!!!

Had lots arranged with friends and their children last week, and the weather on Wednesday didn't make a a finance friendly day as ended up bowling and eating out instead of park and picnic because of the torrential rain!!! (british summer time!!!! tut!!)

Had a stall at a charity fundraiser on Saturday, so made a little bit to put away for our september weekend away - now starting to think about winter school fayres and whether i may opt in to a few in the locality - hmmm will have a ponder!!

Anyway will hop off now and hope to 'speak' soon xxxxx

Hey lovely lady - it's getting a tad quiet down here ((((whistling of the wind :rotfl:))))

Truly hope all is ok with you and yours xxxx

The School holidays are nearing there end, my girls go back next Tuesday - DD1 starts secondary and is dreading it, it's going to be interesting to see if we make it through the morning without tears next week as she's such a sensitive soul ( at this point i want to go live in the middle of a field and home school!!!!)

Work today then off the rest of the week as is DH, so hopefully weather permitting we'll squeeze a few trips in to make it a memorable 'last' week of the holidays!

Hopefully next week my budget may just get back to some kind of normality!!!

Take good care hun xx

• Hi Trix,

I'm back, sorry for the silence but I've been on Annual Leave for a couple of weeks and just haven't had the peace and quiet to come online.

Sorry to hear that the dog didn't work out but you obviously made the right decision, it is difficult to know how things will go with rescue dogs as you never really know their history and how they have been treated. My parents have had 3 dogs from the Cinnamon Trust and, luckily, they have all been great with the grandchildren.

Oh dear re the pc situation, another unexpected expense you could do without.

I had planned to do some serious carbooting during my leave but the weather was horrendous so I only managed to go to 2!! Made about £80 profit and managed to get some wall tiles, a huge 4 foot candlestick and some artifical plants for the conservatory! Total spend £7!!!

Hubby was so down that we booked a short break away in a hotel, chose one with a gym, sauna and indoor pool which was just as well as it poured down practically all the time. We only took DD, didn't have to pay for her meals or accommodation and the boys enjoyed being left 'home alone'.

DS1 was accepted into the Army on Wednesday after a 2 day selection process, I think I was more nervous than him, I felt sick and couldn't sleep!!! He applied in October so it has taken 10 months of various tests and interviews to get to this stage. He will probably start his training in October.

Hubby hasn't had any luck with finding work yet and I think it will be difficult with his impending op. Have gone through my budgets and things are going to be tight especially when DS1 leaves home and isn't paying keep. Updated Tax Credits and we are due the princely sum of £30 per month! Not sure how that can be right when DH has been made redundant from 2 jobs in 4 months!! Think it must be to do with this £2500 disregard when your salary drops. We have probably had a £5000 disregard!

Enjoy the last week of the holidays hun and I hope it all goes well for DD1 at Senior School. DS2 is moving up to our local college (year 9 - we have a 3 tier school system here) but he seems ok about it, have got him all of his uniform now.

Speak soon.

• Hey lovely,

So glad you're 'back' xxxx

Hope you've enjoyed the break from work, and i hope your DH is feeling a little brighter, it's so difficult to focus on the positive when it seems that everything is negative and you get to the point of feeling 'what else can go wrong'!! - i'm sure things will pick up soon xxx

Brill news about DS1 getting into the army, i'll bet he's over the moon!!! - how are you feeling about it??

What is it with the blinking tax credits, i was under the impression they are there as a buffer for working families - ha what a laugh that is ( currently pulling out my soap box to get on!!) - i'm still waiting for the massive insentive to be employed in this country!
DH & I have always worked since leaving college and yet the amount left at the end of the month is getting less and less and yet the bills and expenses are getting more and more - i don't wanna be paying for all of the people out there who are choosing not to work!!!
There are so many people like us who are juggling jobs and finances and have obstacles thrown in our way quite regularly (both our hubbys redundancy history!!) - i think it's time to give us workers a break!!! - the area i live in there are a number of people who have actively chosen not to work (able bodied) and are being supported solely by benefits and have been for years and have a good standard of living - how is that fair?? ( ok i'll put my soap box away now!!)

Anyway, enough of my ramblings for one day!! - take good care and 'speak' soon xx
