  • Hi Trixie,

Hope you had a good weekend and the bedroom makeover went well.

The diet is going ok, lost about 7 lbs in a month. Following the detox but still waiting for the boost of energy it promises!!

Had no kids on Saturday so had a lazy morning ;) and then we decided to decorate the lounge as our friend was away all weekend so no chance of progress with the conservatory. We last painted it when DD was a baby, so about 7 years ago, and it was looking a bit tired. I am also fed up of looking at all of the wires for the xbox, media player etc which DH has been promising were only a temporary fix and he would sort them out !! LOL!! So have spent the rest of the weekend painting, wallpapering and glossing and now have a lounge from the pages of 'Home and Garden', won't last I'm sure!! We used some of my bargain wallpaper (£20 down to £1!) and I have 2 more rolls in a different design for our bedroom, not sure when that will get done though.

Feeling exhausted this morning but when I looked at my timesheet I realised why, I have done 50% more hours this month, will be nice when I get the overtime in my payslip next month. Got double shift again today but hoping that my colleague will be back from sick leave next week.

Obviously didn't manage any ebaying this weekend but whilst clearing the lounge have identified loads of dvds etc to car boot along with some other bits and pieces. Must get motivated with both ebay and booting as any money made will help towards the conservatory. Talking of which I have seen a lovely cane settee I want to get for it but hubby is not convinced, I will have to work on him!

    Right must do some work,

    have a lovely day

    Hey lovely

Roll on a weekend when i haven't got anything planned and can just relax!!! - hell will mostly be frozen over by then - lol :rotfl:

Well you sound as though you were even busier - fab news about your new 'home and garden' lounge, so lovely when a room is fresh and newly decorated and such an acheivment too (especially when it's on a budget):T
DD2's room has now had it's makeover - nothing new in there as it's not been long decorated from when we'd moved but the room has been re-arranged, a huge bookcase which overpowered the room has been taken out and a half sized one (that i'd stuffed in the cupboard under the stairs when we moved as couldnt bear to part with it - fortunately - my OH couldn't knock my 'just in case' hoarding on this occasion :rotfl:!!) has replaced it, far more spacious now (even for a small room) and we even managed to pop her desk back in without compromising on space - she's happy, i'm happy (and knackered as did it on my own as DH was working - blimey i forgot pushing wardrobes on carpet is no easy task as always had wood floors before:cool:) result!!

It's not surprising that you're as tired as you are with the amount of overtime you've been doing - sometimes we get ourselves on a hamster wheel and don't realise how knackered we are until we step off (i'm just realising that now in light of dropping the baking - 2 cakes to go and thats it until september, and even then i may decide not to go back to it - ooh and but i have got a fete and a coffee morning booked in over the summer but that's just cupcakes)

Anyway, i've gotta get cracking with the ebaying (more procrastination!!!) as i've got a blinking great bookcase on my landing at the moment thats gotta go - lol !!

    Have a good day xx

  • Good morning hun!

Well done you for up dating the sig, it's scary stuff facing up to the reality but I know I felt a sense of relief once I did.

Keep checking to see if my e-payslip is online as itching to know if 1. my pay rise has gone through (which I highly doubt) 2. if my tax refund has been processed (again I highly doubt this, they will probs pay it back by increasing my tax code ) and 3. how much I have been paid so that I can work out my budget for the month.

DS1 has been working full-time all week so should be paying keep of £40, want to see if he does this without being prompted but again 'Highly Doubt' it! That seems to be the phrase of the day!!

Working double shift again today but then just 2 easy short days until the weekend.

    Jobs for the weekend;
    • Get DS2's Senior school uniform down from the loft and sort through it.
    • Organise carboot stuff for the following weekend.
    • rejig DDs bedroom and finally put up her new IKEA desk (so proud of her, she's only 7 and did an excellent job of tidying her room yesterday)
    • Ebay 10 items ;)
    • Organise DH's playroom (otherwise known as the dining room:rotfl::rotfl:)
    • Tackle our bedroom (declutter and tidy in prep for decorating)
Hmmm, could really do with one of those 4 day weekends again, where's the royal wedding and jubilee when you need them??

Anyway must go an work, will be back if I get my e-payslip!!

    Have a good day

    Hey Lovely,

I know where you're at with the 'highly doubt it' malarky - OH was due a pay rise 2 months ago, last month it had been 'overlooked' and would definately be in this month and now with 2 days to payday his boss/owner is on holiday and the other owner of the company told him today he's not sure it's been sorted - plus he's done tons of overtime this month which we'd hoped would have been at his new rate - ARRRRRRRGGGGGHHHHHHH!!!!!!!
There's nothing we can do about it but so blinking frustrating, his boss has told him to speak with him tomorrow to see if anything has been sorted - i'll let you know!!!!

Not much time this week for catching up with bits and bobs i'd wanted, so hopefully can be squeezed into the weekend - managed to get to the garden centre after a heads up by a friend that they had slashed the prices of their bedding plants and as my hanging baskets were starting to look a tad leggy with the spring pansies i managed to get enough to fill the 4 baskets for £7 instead of £19 - weekend job i think!!

Hope to get on with ebaying at the weekend and i've sorted several bags of clothes ready for listing plus the prev menioned bookcase! OH is gonna carry on with some painting if he's not working at the weekend and i really must get to grips with the weeds appearing through the gravel in the garden, it will be like the good the bad and the ugly only with weed killer in my holsters!!!!

So hope your payrise and tax rebate are sorted soon xxx

  • Hi Trix

LOL! I have this image in my head now of you with your trigger bottles in your holster, Quick Draw Trixie!!!! Those weeds will be quaking in their roots!

Good day yesterday, no pay rise yet but did get the tax refund, my code is now correct and they only took £10 tax out of my pay!! Hope your OH gets his pay sorted, it's so annoying when you think you are due a bit extra and it doesn't appear, we all have bills etc to balance. I know I have an expensive month this month, end of year school trips, car tax and mot, kids going camping with friends for a week oh and I need to renew my driving licence!!

My lovely boss told me to take the evening off last night (think this was in light of all the extra hours I have done recently) so managed to do some more painting (shelves for the lounge), bit of tidying, laundry and painted DDs wooden picnic bench in the garden. DH and his friend finally started the brickwork for the conservatory so it was a hive of activity here what with dropping the kids off at various activities too!!

Quieter day workwise today, off to see my lady this morning for coffee and a spot of hoovering, then work for 3 hours, pick up kids and straight to Street Dance with DD then home to cook dinner and hopefully more building work. Out for a curry later with other dear friends who picked up the conservatory for us (belated birthday meal for them) - Phew!!

Quiet work day tomorrow (5 hours), then swimming lessons for DD and home to hit that To Do List!! I have so far managed to list 0 items on Ebay (so much for my 10 items every Sunday!!).

Well done on your garden bargains, we could do with a few more flowers for the decking etc, will see if i can find and deals.

Right must dash, off to see my lady now,

back soon, have a good day

  • :j:jPAYDAY!!!!!:j:j
Will need to make some payments to various debts this weekend but also need to keep enough aside for the upcoming events/bills.

Going to be ultra frugal with food this month as have DDs birthday bash half way through the month.

Walked through the Farmer's Market today en route from one office to the other and a gorgeous goat's cheese, spinach and pine nut muffin jumped into my hand and demanded I eat it for lunch! It was delicious, very moist and I will definately be having one of those again (although not too often as not very MSE and definatly not diet friendly!).

Had a great evening with friends last night:beer:, didn't get home to midnight! Got a leaving do on Saturday night so that will be a late one but don't intend getting caught up in the usual shots etc!

More brick work done last night but don't expect there will be much progress tonight as it is peeing down here.

Hoping for a quiet evening tonight and a early night so that I am full of beans to crack on with things at the weekend.

DH came home with some cheap flowers yesterday, Lobelias etc reduced to 50p so will have to make up my baskets this weekend in between the showers! I managed to get a couple of small (cheap) finishing touches for the lounge yesterday and DH is putting the tv up on the wall today as the brackets arrived yesterday so we are making progress. So determined that by the time he goes in for his op the house will be sorted so that it is organised and tidy and easy to look after whilst he is incapacitated (for 2-3 months:eek:).

    Right on with work,

    Have a great weekend

  • Hi Trixie,

Hope you had a great weekend. I don't seem to have stopped but still have loads to do. My To Do list was...........
    • Get DS2's Senior school uniform down from the loft and sort through it. Not done, will try and do tonight
    • Organise carboot stuff for the following weekend. Not done BUT have lots of stuff put to one side after decorating the lounge
    • rejig DDs bedroom and finally put up her new IKEA desk (so proud of her, she's only 7 and did an excellent job of tidying her room yesterday) Not done but her room is still tidy!!
    • Ebay 10 items ;) Not done again!
    • Organise DH's playroom (otherwise known as the dining room:rotfl::rotfl:) IN the process of being done.
    • Tackle our bedroom (declutter and tidy in prep for decorating) Started but only Started!!
Doesn't look like I've done anything but I swear I didn't stop all weekend. Did 8 loads of laundry, finished painting DDs wooden outdoor furniture, planted up the hanging baskets and various other pots, weeded and planted the borders, finished off the lounge, cleaned the house, cooked etc!!

DH and his friends got on with outside, brickwork almost finished, external lights fitted, clutter taken to the skip, fence and gate removed ready for the conservatory to go up. I kept them fed and watered all weekend.

Had a great night out on Saturday, lovely steak dinner and then clubbing (we met up with DS1 and his mates!!)

Determined to do the car boot this coming Sunday (weather permitting), even if I just sell things at 50p it will get some stuff out of the way. Really should be ebaying but have been so busy that haven't had time to organise it or take stuff to the PO, will sweet talk DH and see if he will do the PO run in the mornings before he goes to work.

Any news on your Hubbys payrise?? I still haven't had my new hours confirmed so I am plodding along in my own sweet way at the mo!!

    Have a good day

  • Hi Hun

Not much to report so far this week, still not sorted out my additional hours and when I got copied in on the paperwork I noticed my promotion means a payrise of..........1p ph!!!! I am hoping this is a mistake but if not they can stick it, I will stay as I am and not have the extra responsibility.

Diet is going ok, managed to keep off the 7lbs lost so far but not shifted any more, not sure the detox did much, actually I have been feeling more tired if anything!!

DS1 has paid his keep and repaid the money I lent him whilst he was waiting for his bank card. Bit worried as due to the weather his full-time hours are few and far between! May have to look for something else. Still awaitng his army selection date, just wants to get on with it now!!

Hair cut tonight for me and DD, a friend does it at her house and charges £18 for the both of us so not too bad. I did succome to some toiletteries this week, designer shampoo and conditioner reduced from £5 (who really pays that) to £1.99 so bought 2 of each, they are hidden away so that only I use them. Also bought some hair dye also reduced to £2, so stocked up!

Keeping the grocery spends down, will order from ASDA for the family barbeque we have planned. In the meantime trying to live off what we already have.

Don't think I will be doing the carboot sale on Sunday and the forecast is horrendous, shame cos I really want to shift some of the stuff from the lounge refurb before it starts making its way back onto shelves and into cupboards again!

Off to balance my bank account! Wish me luck

  • Hey Trixie are you still there??? I've missed you! Hope you are ok.

Don't know where this week has gone, been busy preparing for the family bbq tomorrow. Forecast is terrible so will cover all of the decking in gazebos with the sides on and battoning down the hatches!!! It's a real shame as the children won't be able to enjoy playing in the garden. ASDA delivery booked for tonight, I am working day and evening shifts today so DH will have to find homes for everything. Lists galore made so that I feel in control. Spent last night scrubbing the kitchen til it gleamed!

Finances terrible, not sure what has gone wrong but payrise kicks in this month (9 extra hours a week) plus I will be getting over 50 hours overtime so that will help. Have decided that I will carry on as if I haven't had the payrise and use this money (which I have calculated at about £300pm net) to build the emergency fund of £1000 and then to clear the debt asap. It means that my budget will remain tight but doable and I should see the debts dropping nicely as per the snowball I did.

Xmas savings going well, have £120 in the pot at work, £60 in £2 coins at home and numerous vouchers for c0-0p, t'sco and mossies.

Not managed to ebay or carboot yet but absolutely MUST. Ebay proceeds will stay in P'ypal for Xmas and carboot proceeds will pay towards conservatory.

Conservatory is very slow going due to the weather, will hopefully be finished within another month though.

DS1 paying keep as promised despite his hours not being as plentiful as he had hoped (again due to the weather). He has Army selection in 4 weeks time!!

DS2 leaving Middle School next week. Have bought the minimum amount of senior school uniform for him as still need to raid the loft. DD will leave primary next year and is ok for uniform until then.

I am very pleased with myself. Had a NEXXXT VIP slot booked and did not order anything!! I am getting better!!! Taking far more pleasure in making the house nice with my cheap paint etc and do not feel that I need to buy things for myself!

    Off to have some lunch.

    Have a great weekend.
