Hi i have a Toshiba Laptop which for some reason is not working to its full potential everytime I boot it up it takes ages to start up with 2 faults it also runs a bit slower than normal
1. C:\WINDOWS\eksplorasi.exe is the 1st one that comes up It tells me that the above programme cannot be found.
2. this one is that Windows cannot find photogallery and asks me to insert the relevant CD.
I have tried the recovery CD with no joy I have Nortons which is useless as all it really does is tells there is a problem. hopefully someone can help me with this.

I think your problem is Norton - to be honest. I've never used it for years, but for good reason. It seems to come up with false positives on a number of issues.
Get yourself a new antivirus - get rid of Norton.
I recommend Antivir or Avast.0 -
not sure Nortons is the problem as it is not a Nortons error it happens on start and is a registry problem. but i will try the removal of Nortons later on tonight.Bargain BoyNo amount of money is worth more than good health0

Perhaps, if you're still gettin the faults after Norton's removal - and no solution is attainable, I would consider backing up your data and reinstalling Windows.0

It is the Norton! It works well when installed on a new machine but after several updates it seems to degrade. Get rid of it and put on a free one AVG is very good.0

The first line suggests that you may have been infected (or still are infected) with a W32.Rontokbro worm at some point. Not sure about this variant, but the symptoms of similar variants are pc shutting down randomly, very sluggish, icons appearing with folder icons, but are actually exe's. Plug another PC into the same network, and it might get infected..
If you have ever had this, your windows isn't patched.., and you firewall may not be on.

Assuming that Norton has caught or cleaned it up, remove the reference to the file in the startup/registry with

Why does everyone blame every PC error on Norton AV?!
If you are really infected or not patched, then uninstalling it is not a good idea..
Could you supply more details about the second error, when does it happen, if at startup, check autoruns, if when you click on an image, it sounds like you may have installed and removed a graphics program, reinstall it.Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0 -
It would seem at some point your machine was infected with a virus WORM_RONTOKBRO.Y Trojan which changes the registry to make eksplorasi.exe run at start-up. I'm guessing that Norton deleted the file afterwards but didn't correct the registry key.
http://www.processlibrary.com/directory/files/eksplorasi/ shows how to fix the key.0 -
What has Norton got to do with it? Windows is failing to find the .exe file of two programs. This has nothing to do with the anti-virus program whatsoever. As for false positives, there's nothing like NOT using a program for several years to know all about it's false positives. :Tmoob wrote:I think your problem is Norton - to be honest. Your first comment was bad enough but this just takes the biscuit!!
Please tell me you don't work in a computer repair shop

bargainboy,
Download HJTsetup.exe to your desktop.
Double-click HJTsetup.exe icon on your desktop to start the installation.
By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Hijack This.
Continue to click Next in the setup dialogue boxes until you get to the Select Addition Tasks dialogue.
Put a check by Create a desktop icon then click Next again.
Continue to follow the rest of the prompts from there.
At the final dialogue box click Finish and it will launch Hijack This.
Click the Do a system scan and save a logfile button. It will scan and the log should open in notepad.
Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" to copy the entire contents of the log.
Come back here to this thread and Paste the log (Ctrl+V) in your next reply.0 -
