Well, I'm afraid that Green Tomato Cake has already found its natural place here:

    icon13.gifRecipes NOT to be repeated!!
    I'm SO :mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad: :mad::mad::mad::mad:!!!!

I tried making Nigella Lawson's Fried Calamari which not only was horribly expensive (£7 on the calamari for 2 people ) but it didn't work. The cornflour/semolina mix came off the calamari in the oil.
I even went to the trouble of making up some Old Bay Spice.

    What a waste!

I think I'm no longer a fan of Nigella having made her Mustard Pork Chops and getting a just-about-edible result.

So what are your 'not-to-be-repeated' recipes?

Upon which rather annoyed note, au lit, knowing I'll have to be up extra early to make something else.
Took way more than 40-45 minutes to cook - 2 hours more like; seems soft and comparable texture to photo, but I'm not convinced.

Hi, there! We have older thread on this subject so I'll add your question to it.

Hope the cricketers enjoy their tea ;)

I've been given some recipes by a colleague from NZ that call for standard grade flour. Does anyone know if this is plain or SR? Thanks

Probably plain. but can you tell by the recipe?
plain for biscuits SR for cakes generally but plain for cakes if the recipe also includes a raising agent like Bicarb of soda or baking powder.
Hvae I confused the issue for you enough?
    sorry!
    Arty.

Mainly biscuit recipes - anzacs & the like. Just checked & they do add baking powder too, so guessing must be plain. Thanks

    Hi kmeast:hello:

Like Arty I would also assume plain flour. Arty - excellent tip on checking the recipe too. There is a thread which discusses "all purpose flour" so I'll add your thread to that one later to keep it all together

    thanks
