Well thats Monday nearly over..... Spent a small fortne over the last 2-3 days with new car, girls beds are expected on Wednesday so i bought bedding and curtains for that plus a slide for the garden and 2 new sofas... I'm afraid thats the PPI refund I had gone.

Will be spending this evening redoing budget and looking at planning for allotment veg for 2011...

  • Evening LP

Am on nights tonight so doing this in a darkened room whilst half watching a scary movie!

Off to Cornwall to see the rellies on Weds morning and DH has FINALLY slabbed the pavers all the way round the chicken run, yay!! Hopefully we'll be able to get some chook feed, Diatom, louse powder etc in Cornwall and park it all in our shed before the 'girls' arrive. I'm hoping to buy some chooks on the first weekend in March, been looking forward to it for a year! DH has also decided that they will need an electrified fence round the run in case Mr Fox puts in an appearance (which is likely), 800 volts should put him off! I shall sell any spare eggs we get to the boys and girls at work for a £1 for half a dozen then save the money for our next holiday :D

    How is Ava?

Enjoy Cornwall Kimmie... yo should be on your way by now.. Little Ava is fine but very very small. She lost weight first few days which is totally normal but she dropped from 8lb 3 to 7lb 4 bt was 7lb 6 yesterday so we are heading in the right direction now.. Health visitor coming in this morning and TBH I hate health visitors... Too mch talk about centile charts and I have little doll like petite little girls who sem to rapidly drop down the centile bandings DD2 is on 0.9th centile for weight vs age..

We ordered new beds for the older 2 about 6 weeks ago.. Courier called on saturday to say they wold arrive today between 10 and 2.. great stuff I thought.. DH can do nursery rn, i'll get DD2 ready while he is away then i'll take DD2 away to my parents for the day to let us build 2 beds in time for the evening. Wednesdya is the day my dad collects DD1 from nursery anyway for an afternoon of whatever it is grandparents do with grandkids.. It usually involves baking or making something.

Typical beds arrived at 8:55 while DH was away and in the middle of a BF. TYPICAL.

Now we are trying to get DD2 ready and out.

Oh and apparently because we now have 3 kids we are 'entitled' to £36.34 child tax credit between now and April in total. Apparently it will be paid into our bank account on 5th April 2011. That will go as a straight overpayment..

Other than that I am looking at ways to up my income and lower outgoings.. I did an approved foods order which was mostly flour.. I hope to make use of that site and food bargains for bulk packs of flor, rice, pasta etc. Dh works for a catering supplier and gets discount... we shold start using that more only issue is its huge packs like 1.5kg scampi or 30 breaded haddock fillets, 3kg onion rings type thing... We also have an allotment that is 3 miles away from here.. i want to plan veg for the year and how to store if possible...

  • Good luck with the HV. Some of them like to bash you round the head with the centile charts...and I always want to strangle them too.

Except my Ma who was one!

  • Charts to show how babies should be growing, the baby should stay on roughly the same centile (100th of the population) so if it is born between the 50th and the 75th weight-wise, then it should stay roughly in that range.

Some (ill trained) HVs and M/Ws use these to insist women formula-feed, or if they are already formula feeding they use them to generally make the mum feel bad and guilty.

Of course, in the right hands, they are a useful tool, but not the full story.

GFH hit the nail on the head there froggy. As an example DD2 was born at 37+6 so 15 dyas before she was actally due.. At birth she was 8lb3 which pt her at around the 90th centile so in the top 10% weight wise, I seem to grow whopper babies. Anyway the theory is she shold pt on weight as per the chart and always stay in the top 10% or thereabouts. None of my kids have. DD1 was 80th at birth and is currently arond the 10th weight but 80th for height (inherited my long legs and DH long body.. DD2 is 0.9th for weight and 15th for height. and at almost 3 is just growing into 18-24 month clothes.. :rotfl:

Basically I fell out with my idiot HV because she said DD2 is 'failing to thrive' which is male cow poop and anyone who has seen her climb, run, jump and talk wold tell you she is jst a dainty little doll bt with a temper and fire behind the eyes.. Apparently both me and DH were small at a similar age.

Anyway HV been and gone, had a go at me because Ava was sleeping in her basket beside me on her side/tummy. Did the she shold be sleeping on her back blah cot death etc etc. So i told her it was my 3rd time arond the block, DD3 is happier on tummy, she is 6 inches away from me and my risk assesment is while i'm keeping an eye on her then she can nap on her side or tummy. Night she is always on her back bt never settles as well.

Oh and the HV is new and 24!! no kids and DD3 only pt on 1oz since she was last weighted.. HV not happy with that apparently.. Do't think she realised last weight was monday afternoon so 1oz in 36 hours is decent IMO.

Anyway beds half built.. well frames/base is but they are cabain beds with drawers and toy cupboards underneath so I still have to tackle them... I have so mch more patience for flatpack than DH so i've dispatched him for the kids. Tea tonight is sweet and sour chicken. Its one of the meals I had portioned up in the freezer so cheapo tea.

Approved foods emailed me to say order packed and awaiting collection from courier.. I guess that will arrive Friday :)

Lilac - please can I ask a question? I read your cheese bread loaf on pammy's thread - do you need a loaf tin to bake it in? Or could you do it in a cake tin or something? i want to try making bread but not sure I will be any good (or stick with it) so not sure i want to splash out on new equipment (although have no idea of the cost of a good one!)

    Thanks!
