 My discovery is doing 27 mpg, that's thirsty.

The whole mat leave thing is scary isn't it, how long are you having off?

39 weeks hopefully. I get the 1st 20 at full pay and then it's SMP for 19 then I can take an additional 13 weeks at zero pay which is just impossible so not even worth considering. One saving grace is 4 weeks notice is all my employer wants officially but off the record they have said a few days would be acceptable

  • Best of luck for today. If you are still at home and reading this I hope you are home cos you are well.

(My story don't read if you don't want v boring other peoples birth stories)...My induction was put back cos they didn't have cots in the special care baby unit, I thought they will never have cots cos there is always an emergency and they couldn't give me a date for my induction. I didn't feel right, had a cut on my arm which didn't heal at all and I thought enough is enough these babies must be born. I could never feel fetal movement (two very tightly packed in twins), I simply told them I had no fetal movement and I wouldn't know it things were going wrong, they decided although inconvenient they needed to do daily fetal monitoring. I knew wasn't going to happen for long cos it was labour intensive - find staff, find bed or seat and find monitor. On the Sunday I went in the receptionist told me they were going to induce me as I strolled in (I didn't care she had told me, I needed me and the babies safe that was my priority).

I am sorry to say midwives and nurses ( I know cos I am one) loose sight of what is important and that is you and your baby. I do know we are all guilty of getting caught up in stuff and loosing sight of what we are there for. I am not blaming them, we all do it, but this is important it is about you and babies health. Cath you probably don't cos you are a money saving expert and a member of the RCN!

If you are ill you need sorting out, if your bloods are clotted they need taking again and the results read by someone competent to read them!, if you need monitoring, it needs to be done and interpreted properly. It is their job, that is what they are there for and are paid to do. It is not your job to sort out the politics of the place and frankly community or hospital midwife who cares, you need to be checked properly and kept safe. Don't hid away and wait for natural labour to start if you feel unwell, make lots of noise and be seen and be a pain in the neck and keep presenting if you think you need monitoring more closely than you are.

I must warn you I did midwifery and I worried too much to be a midwife, I was always looking for problems, I was better suited to acute nasty nursing where my worry is justly rewarded. So I worry but you are worth the worry and the fuss you only have one go at this.

I agree with Cath (sorry to drag you into it again).

I will be happy when this little baby is born and you two are safely home again.

God bless you and your little family.

PP2 (not doing well £32 left in shopping budget for rest of month and only the 8th. Also dont want to pay guitar lesson fee till end of month- bill came this week- so it comes out of Jans pay but feel ethical dilema - oh dear what to do)
    Byeeee
Debt Sept 2012 £140,000 end age 65.5 (maximum) four mortgages in total
    April 2016 £114,599.83 (3 mortgages now)
Nil debt for some many years now perhaps 8. Need to save for a tent for holiday this year but nil else.
Over paying about £500 per month but fancy £600 so will have to think of some very money saving techniques...
  • I would like to do small posts but can't, shall try in future.

Hi Pennypincher2, I agree that Lilac should make lots of noise. Sometimes quieter patients get overlooked cos noisy ones demand the attention.
Re: the meal planning Lilac i think it sounds like a plan!

  • Oh for goodness sakes! I was expecting you to be offline now and then telling us the ickle one had arrived!

I do agree with the other ladies though, if youre feeling poorly/ill, then fuss needs to be made, thats the point of all the national insurance contributions we all make, you take it when you need it - and you need it!
Dont put it off LP, if you feel things are not right and youre worried then get down to the hospital and shout loudly, others do it and are dealt with properly, so why not you?!

We were in M and S the other day, next in the queue at the tills. The cashier then had to go off and help the person she was serving change something. The woman 3 people back from us went right off on one, 'Ive just queued at the other till for 20 minutes, I'm fed up being made to wait again, etc etc!!'. 2 mins later another cashier was found, scuttles over and serves the noisy one first!! What was I, Scotch mist??!! The point to this rant is that the more fuss you make, the better treatment you get, sad but true!

Will they change mini LP's position or not bother??

Kimmy - I guess they will offer to attempt to turn bump to the 'right' way but sucess rate at my hospital is a fraction under 50%, it requires me being nil by mouth from the midnight before as it can result in baby being in distress so an emergency section would be needed. Think I will follow some old wives tales to make baby turn.

Got a huge pot of bolognese sauce on the hob. MAde OH get minces beef yesterday while i was in clink not evpecting to be kept in but I was.
