Refused Vanquis and Aqua card

Filled out an online application this morning and both refused me instantly. As far as I'm aware I don't have any CCJ's but do have a default on file from an Abbey credit card about 1.5 years ago.

Any others worth trying?

If those 2 have declined your application then unlikely anyone else will accept...if your default is showing on both Experian and Equifax then you are stuck, the default is very young....however if your Equifax file is not showing it you could try Barclaycard as they only search equifax

Thanks, will give them a try.

  • Well I got the generic response, "we are unable to process your order at this time, but will contact you within 5 working days" which normally in my experience means they'll phone me offering all sorts of useless offers on things I already have. Lol, never mind. Will keep trying.

You've already been refused by the bottom feeders, so perhaps it's time to take the hint.

Applying for other credit cards is likely to make things worse for you because searches made by the card providers will appear on your credit file. You start to look a bit desperate to lenders if you have lots them during a short period of time.

    Alan Wake? LOL

Anyway, did you try the Barclaycard pre application check first?

Give it a go and let us know, can't hurt now :) The search doesn't harm your credit file.

I've just been pre-approved by my bank (Lloyds) for a 2k loan, in my case it's not being able to prove my income as I'm self employed, my credit file isn't that bad to be honest.

Mate its nothing to do with being self/employed its your credit file which is just not good enough which means you failed their credit score,as you've said the bank has lent you 2k because they know your history.

Was that Vanquis? From other posts on here, that is the general response. They normally call you then ask a few questions and tell you on the phone youve been accepted. So all is not lost yet, see what they say when they phone
