But thats all it is - An Email
I've said it a few times in this thread already that people are blowing this well out of proportion.
I'm not clever but i use common sense. I would :-
A) Never use my work EmailNever use my main Email
C) I use an Email address that is JUST used for all forum sign up's
If people are too stupid to realise the internet is not as safe as they'd like it to be then that's their own fault.
I've read posts from people saying how they've used a work email. Plainly thats just being stupid IMO and asking for trouble. Using the internet is not rocket science but a user has to take steps to protect them selves.
You know, even when you buy from Argos online you use an email address. That's passed around like the plague to all affiliated companies.
So what if MSE got hacked - It's a massive website and a huge success making it a big target for fraud.
At the end of the day web attacks will always be apparent and they will never be stopped just the same as NASA,NHS, Governments get hacked all the time
So stop whining and let the team get on with it. This could and probably is a problem with Vbulletin and i'm sure it'll be sorted out.
Just to add. Look how many "Patches" windows has you install on a daily basis because of security loop holes. These thing's happen so deal with itIf Adam and Eve were created first

Whilst I agree that this issue is nothing to get paranoid about I think you are a little unkind calling people stupid, they may be a little naive but not everyone is aware of the pitfalls of going online, it does not make them stupid!
And am I the only person here who is irritated by people who keep telling others to "deal with it" it is so rude IMHO and people do deal with things for 'gods sake'!0 -
Are we supposed to have just received a PM regarding this? Just received one but scared to open it0

Think we are supposed to, yes.
Though why it contains loads of links when people are already flapping about links is a bit of a mystery.
Also, the message says "*We don't hold any personal data on individuals*" - - is this actually really true? I remember you can at least add your date of birth (rather personal), may be other personal data too.0 -
Thanks, I've read it direct from the email but I'm not clicking any links0

I care - very much, but then I have had experience of identity theft and believe me, it was an unpleasant and frightening experience which I do not wish to repeat!
this is beyond a joke now.
If you didn't click the link you'll not have the virus so can get back on with your life
I may sound rude but people are over reacting beyond belief. It's a bloody email address nothing more. They don't have any further information so i wouldn't worry. If Adam and Eve were created first

I haven't received an email, neither in my inbox or spam box.0
