No, but not because of the associations, just because the ring is ugly and old fashioned. I didn't like it first time around, Camilla's is much nicer.

Little known fact: Diana was wearing the ring when she died. She'd taken to hanging it round her neck on a gold belcher chain from Ratners. It was shipped back from Paris with the rest of her possessions - a £20 Harrods voucher and a Best of Dire Straits CD.

  • I think it's lovely thing to do. It belonged to his mother and would be very precious. It also makes Diana a little bit involved, even though she has passed away.

I am torn, I can see the sentiment from his side, and given that if they were to split the ring would then pass out of his family unless she chose to return it, it shows a lot of confidence in their future, but it almost evokes feelings of the "there are 3 of us in this marriage" comment which Diana made..... Kate is her own woman, and he could have given her that ring alongside an engagement ring of her own imo. I didnt think she seemed too keen on it in the interview, but what could she say? I think William should have been a bit more sensitive to her feelings.

I think it's good that he's given her the ring. There are plenty of people who give their girlfriends an engagement ring that used to be their mothers, grand-mothers etc.

If it cost 28k back then I wonder how much she'd get from Cash4Gold if they ever split up ;):D
