Hmmm.... would you have wanted Diana's ring?

Given the unfortunate turn of Diana and Charles' marriage, would you have wanted to have been given the groom's mother's engagement ring?
I'm damned sure I wouldn't have wanted it.

Yes - Diana and Charles would have loved each other and their union bore the man you're going to marry.
Their relationship may not have lasted, but does that doesn't mean they shouldn't have got married.
The only thing that would stop me accepting it is that the responsibility of ensuring it comes to no harm could kill me!I love surprises!0 -
Don't think I would have wanted it, as it's not exactly a good omen. But, it is very money saving of William to give it.
There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.0 -
I dont really get the nonsense about being an omen...
I wouldnt however give it to anyone, very 80's.
Must be worth a mint now though, after all it cost £28k back then.Back by no demand whatsoever.0 -
I guess it fulfills 'old, borrowed and blue' in one item.
Diana may have loved Charles but he made the 'whatever love is' comment in their engagement interview didn't he. Wasn't exactly a match made in heaven.
I wish Kate and William better luck.Make £2026 in 2026

I was thinking about this early on this am!
Apart from the ring isn't really me, while I understand the sentiment of it I would prefer a ring that has no history and is 'mine' iykwim rather than a memory of someone else.Susie"A woman is like a tea bag:you never know how strong she isuntil she gets in hot water."0 -

i have my partners mother's engagement ring she passed away when he was only 18 so i never met her , it's not a expensive ring but the emotion and trust that goes with him giving it to me means alot to me0

I wear my ma in law's engagement ring.
I think it's lovely that he wanted his new bride to be to have it, it must have meant a lot ot him, and shows what a lovely girl Kate is to accept it.
Let's not forget how young he was to lose his mother.I am happy to receive responses to my posts, however I will ignore any that are flaming/trolling.0 -
Hell YES! I'd have taken it.. it's a beautiful gesture...0
