A lot of people. mostly old are being issued FPN and in almost all cases they attempt to issue Penalty points as well
It may be a conspiracy involving DVLA. They have recently added all kind of things 'Tyre, seat belts' brakes steering, etc for which police can issue you with FPN and penalty points. All these are checked during M.OT and no person is competent enough to question police. These problems with the car are so subjective and the opinions will differ, but if they do not like your face, you will get the points and many other things.
Car insurance may automatically goes up by Pound 100 for any conviction 'penalty points'. I think this money goes to DVLA, Police expenses and to line insurers pocket.
All these officials are working against citizens and should not have the law to back them up. Every one should be talking to their MP's and write to who ever to rid of this public fleecing, being invented by every Tom !!!!!! and Harry.
Don't take it lying down, fight it.

I agree. Fight it by making sure your vehicle is in a roadworthy condition. Especially the old. Apparently.0

Fight who - the police? DVLA? The insurer can charge whatever premium they feel is appropriate for a risk. If one insurer charges too much, then maybe you might like to try another insurer.
It's a revolutionary idea called 'shopping around'
Keep taking the pills0 -
Have you just received a FPN?Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0

Bah, quite right, why not just let the 'old' people get away with bald tyres and dodgy brakes....................it certainly is a consipracy by the government to make sure all vehicles are roadworthy...............mad idea eh0

This is excellent news for poor carless families who have up to now been paying the police's expenses with their council tax.
So that should be going down under this new scheme.
But who gave you that "thought" in your head?
Do you always hear voices, or just when you stop taking the tablets?0 -

Which means that the car was roadworthy on that day, two days later it may have faulty tyres due to being kerbed and six months later they may be below the legal limit or the vehicle could have defective brakes etc. etc. in other words any number of faults.0 -
No I have not received an FPN.
Consider if you are stopped to be warned that your Road Tax will run out next week, and then the officer says 'your steering feels dodgy'. what will be your response? When going along a fuse in your car is blown and you have no rear lights, you will get 3 points on your license. Previously a repair order used to be raised but this did not bring any cash.
I am all for having Road Worthy cars on the road but when DVLA pressures police to book people, otherwise why will a policeman say that DVLA like them to do this. People who drive dodgy cars normally do not have insurance either and should be caught. Ordinary citizens deserve better who do their utmost to abide by the law but are criminalised by silly laws.
Old people are a target because they may not fight back.
My aim for the message was that this should be investigated, I am most definitely asking my MP to do something.

But your original post was suggesting that insurance companies were giving back handers to DVLA/Police.
You are now changing your tune.
You strike me as somebody with way too much time on their hands.
There is definately a village somewhere missing its idiot0
