Real life MMD: Cat has licked our food, should we eat it?

For real? you'd bin an entire joint because the cat licked it?! Words spring to mind but I don't want to appear nasty/harsh by saying them here!!
Cut off the part where the cat licked, if its gotten to the lamb before you have, it wins, you lose, better luck next time, give it the prize and admit defeat. A £20 joint which has been licked? I am sure after cutting out the licked bit you will have a fair amount left!
Your partner wont eat the entire thing? guess he will have to make good use of filling up on the vegetables then.0 -
maybe the cat wont eat cat food because the cat food tin has a picture of a cat on it and might think it made with dead cats.......like when you buy a tin of pears its got a picture on the tin of pears.
so you could get a picture of a sheep stick it on the cat food tin (that will fool him)

I've been married for over 40 years and have lost count of the number of times that oner of the many cats that we have had over the years have helped themselves to our dinner. Being the loveing wife that I am (LOL) I will tidy up to disguise obviously chewed meat if its cooked or if raw, will just pop it in the oven and cook it. You cant tell once its cooked and the heat will kill anything nasty. I then serve that bit up to hubby, he is none the wiser and I get the good bit !!. He is still alive and kicking and has never suffered any ill effects. ( arn't I just mean !!)

maybe when he gets older the cat could do it more often.“Life isn't about finding yourself. Life is about creating yourself.”

If you hadn't witnessed the cat licking the meat, you'd have eaten it quite happily and not known the difference, with no ill effects!
Besides that, while we don't fancy sharing with the resident moggy, it hasn't exactly got a foul dirty mouth like some creatures in the wild, so tuck in and scoff the lot!
As my dear Dad used to say "clean meat never fattened a pig"0 -
No I wouldn't eat it. Nobody should ever allow cats into nany room where food is prepared or eaten. What a horrible thought.0

Shoot the cat.
Throw the lamb away.
Problem solved.

i had made a cake and put marzipan on it and someone had let the cat into the kitchen and he left the turkey cooling on the side but decided to eat some of the marzipan from the cake on top of the freezer ...so i just repaired the hole and iced it .. and everyone who had some of my cake loved it -including the cat .

And I cannot be worrying about what might be lurking on peanuts at the bar - I have guzzled those all my life and again never come to any harm. I never get ill from anything I eat and I firmly believe being exposed to the odd bug just strengthens one's immune system. So enjoy that joint of lamb, and if the other half won't eat it then all the more for you!!0

Cats carry different bacteria to us and are likely to be immune to different things, if children are going to eat, I would be very wary of feeding food that a pet had explored, and I would learn from the experience to make sure the cat cannot get to cooked food in future.
Personally, I would throw it away, as to be safe you would have to re cook.
How much is the financial cost to illness in the family?0
