This is the one my mother in law has http://www.amazon.co.uk/Button-Easy-Senior-Mobile-Phone/dp/B003HKDHSC
but she is not a mobile phone user at all, so it might be a bit 'cheap' for someone who is used to using one. I set it up so that she only has to press a number to reach us all, rather than having to scroll through contacts.0 -
I'm currently using a Nokia 2720 fold/clam phone that has quite large buttons compared to most mobiles. If anything I find them too big, so my 80 year old mother is eyeing it up in case i don't get on with!0

Try looking at the Emporia phone range, they offer easy to use handsets. A quick search revealed that Talkmobile stock them by the looks of things: http://www.talkmobile.co.uk/sim_free/emporia/life_plus.html?simCardIncentiveId=5929427
"The Skipping Hippo" (lol) offers more in-depth information and a user manual for it, however they don't have it for sale: http://www.theskippinghippo.co.uk/emporia-life-plus-sim-free.htmlTHE BIGGEST_MINT0 -
Might of interest to some that the Doro 410 (about £100 SIM free or around £80 + Top Up on certain PAYG deals) is available free on Orange's £5/month tariff (50 minutes and 50 texts, downside is that it is a 36 month contract but a free replacement handset after 18 months).
£30 quidco cashback also available.0 -
I've taken my own advice (See post #4)
My Dad wanted an easy to use phone and he also wanted to change networks due to lack of signal near his new home.
We got him the Doro PhoneEasy 410 from CPW.
We wanted it on the T-mobile network (best transmitter for him) but CPW only do that phone on contract via the Orange network.
So , we went for a T-mobile SIM only 1 month contract @ £10 / month
Then we added a PAYG deal on the phone @ £79.95 + £10 top-up, this saved him £40 on the full cost of the phone.
He is going to use up the £10 credit over the next few weeks then just destroy that PAYG SIM so that the temporary PAYG phone number expires after approx 180 days of no use.
We then traded in his old phone and got £30 for it.
So, the whole deal only had an up front cost of approx £59
The Doro is a good quality phone, easy to setup and use, large clear display, large easy to use buttons, loud earpiece and speaker phone. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
The crazy thing - and exploitative too - is that these big button phones have all the facilities of a 1990's handset, no add ons and cost 3 times as much as a better equipped cheap Nokia or Alcatel just because they have a captive market and no real competition.
It beats me why one of the big companies doesn't recognize the huge market in the over 55s/60s who just want a basic phone that is geared for older people, and bring out a couple of phones in their range.0 -
Think nokia from post up there is looking good as simply cannot afford rip off prices of the others

haha thank you but dad just needs his glasses more now, he is not completely stupid (yet) tehe
thinking the nokia 2720 is prob best for now for him, clam shell so he can have it in his pocket at work without it getting damaged and seems to have larger screen and buttons than most and around £40
will save up for a doro thingy one for the future while keeping my fingers crossed that the big companies wake up and make a cheap large button big screen non fancy all dancing one in the meantime

been surfing and found a review that says the nokia 2729 flip only has a small screen. has anyone got one?
was now thinking nokie 6303i but creeping up in price again. also dont really want to get from carphone warehouse as you have to have £10 credit which i dont mind but last time i did that vodaphone said i could not transfer it to existing vodafone sim card to keep number so the £10 was wasted really even though carphone W said i could the vodafone lady said "yes, we get that a lot. but no you cant" gee thanks
