By all means bigger deposits isn't a problem and I welcome it as it weeds out those who can't budget, in my case I have budgeted and am saving to which I will get a deposit together, yes it will take slightly longer but I will have a bigger equity in my home so not too bad a trade off.
In simple terms lower house prices will lead to lower mortgage payments which leads to a better quality of life for all involved, is that such a bad idea?Have my first business premises (+4th business) 01/11/2017

Well enough said. You've married a prostitute. Congratulations. You must be very proud of her and she must be very devoted to you
Who cares?
UK house prices won't crash because my wife worked in a Go Go bar.
You and Gloomy need to chill and get out more. There is a saying for small minded people like you in Thailand. Translated it means people behind the mountain. :rotfl:0 -

If it's small-minded to not be proud to marry a !!!!!, I plead guilty.
There is a saying for people like you in Thailand; you know, the kind of white trash expat who marries hookers even though it's obvious their 'wives' have absolutely no respect for them.
But I'm too jai dee to talk about it here.
If you're proud of your life, good for you. Me? I'd writhe in embarassment at both how the expat and local communities view me if I was married to a gogo bar worker.0 -
Daddybear,
I met my wife in a Go Go bar. She's really sexy. I doubt I'll be thinking 'God it was terrible living with that Thai girl' when they are lowering me 6ft into the ground.Bangkok-Dave wrote: »Who cares?

Erm, did you forget to log out & back in again?
Methinks you've just blown any debate about having multiple ID's...It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -

Although the thread is meandering a bit off topic I don't see why anyone is not entitled to a say about anything they feel they can contribute something to.
I discuss Ferarri cars with my son, the likelyhood is that neither of us will ever own one but we can have an opinion on them.
Strangely all this thread has provoked is opinions of Thai brides from people who don't have one (and never will) yet the creator of the thread doesn't see the irony in this at all as he argues his case.
A wise man once said "opinions are like a$$ holes, everyone has one".
If someone has something to say, let them say it. If you want to argue the opinion thats your right, but lets try and avoid the I have more than you as it isn't productive.
Isn't the point of a forum to promote discussion after all?Nick Hampson0 -
Oh Mr Sibley I love you big time yes.0

I think it might be useful to look at what really did happen in the 70`s. I was a sales rep earning about £1,500 a year and my wife was earning some what less. I played in a band at weekends which added around a further a bit under £1,000k a year. With a deposit and a lot of jumping through hoops we bought a 3 bed semi near London for a bit under £10k. Some friends went to the Midlands for work and much cheaper properties.
Roll on a few short years and with wage inflation and both with promotions our income was much, much higher. We bought a nice cottage in a nice part of town for less than £15,000, 1978. I do admit that in 10 years that was sold for £65k.2 people with semi decent jobs would find that doable. Then the nasty time came in as mentioned by a couple of posters here. Mad interest rates. I remember so many losing there jobs or their business.
To my mind the last 10 years have taught me that we have had low wage inflation, house prices going through the roof, and as a baby boomer that I find disagreeable. Also, if you look, lots of things like food, utilities becoming far more expensive.
So the government steps in with credits. That does not sort out the problems one little bit if you think about it.
I must admit to feeling poorer now than say in the early 80`s, although I don`t have a mortgage but just income wise.0 -

You will be if she's the one who put you there. With all those valuable assets you'd better watch your back.0 -
