I think everyone is entitled to have an opinion regardless of their financial situation, whether or not they are homeowners.

We rent privately, I have no intentions of buying a property, so the government can sell it to pay for any possible future care home. As nothing is ever truly yours to keep, I see no point in investing in property.

My attitude is I was born into this World naked and when my time is up, will leave it naked, I have no intentions of leaving anything behind for the government to claim. On saying this, I have no qualms with those who choose to buy a property, there are no laws that say we should do either, and whatever we choose to do regarding property is entirely our own decision, business and choice.

Nothing short of inheriting a property would change my mind on home ownership. Even then I would choose to sell off and go back to renting before I meet my maker. ;).

It's a nice theory but in the real world it means you have to keep on working to support yourself until you're well into old age to keep a roof over your head.

If you choose to get all the expense out of the way as soon as possible then you have the option of not bothering to go to work if you don't want to.

You really are a couple of nasty bits of work.

The most pleasing and obvious signals I get from your posts is you both have miserable lives. That really makes me happy.:rotfl:

I'm a bit old fashioned. My parents taught me to never brag or boast about what you have. It's not nice and not polite. I don't mind annoying nasty bits of work like yourselves but not decent hardworking people who may genuinely priced out or having hard times.

My motivation for joining these type of boards is to counter attack any rotten bears who try and talk the housing market and UK down. It's a load of tosh what they write and I hate the way they gang up on decent hardworking people.

I don't really want to stoop down to your level but I can.

It will trouble you to know that I thank god everyday how lucky and privileged I am to be living here. I absolutely love Thailand.

I own 50% of a great house with my sister in Maidstone NO MORTGAGE.

1 x cottage in Loose valley.More than 60% paid off with a great tenant.

My job is fantastic. My dream come true. The best company I could ever hope to work for. Money is good for UK so here it's excellent.

I can live where I want to in Bangkok. I'm married though. Thai people like to live near family and as my wife comes from Rang Sit then so be it. My house is not a slum. It's nice. 3 bedroom detached.

It suits me because I have dogs including my lovely Akita. I don't want to be part of the ex pat ' Look how important I am' scene.

The wife and I do like a dabble in the adult entertainment here. Hi Ho so what? We are both over 21 and it's fun. :)

    So there you have it.

Of course I'm interested in house prices and want them to rise. Saying that, I've told my tenant that I'll make a big discount for him should he want to buy my place as he's been so good.

    Whatever.

What are you two doing for the rest of the week?

    Nothing?

We are off to central Bangkok tonight for a meal with friends. Probably go to Vertigo restaurant. Google it. :rotfl:

Thursday it's off to Phuket with customers then back to Pattaya with the wife for Loy Kratong festival and quite possible a menage trois with my wifes friend Lek.

    Happy dayz. :)

    P.S.

    How could I forget?

I found out last week. I got a UK pension forecast from DHSS. I've paid 29 years NI. I've only got to top up £97 one years worth then I'll get full whack pension. That's your money that is. Bet that grates.

Your mistake Sibley is that you take your lies just that little too far to be credible.

You and I both know you're not on an expat salary in Thailand; you might be able to fool those who don't know the market there, but I do.

I dont see how at my age, a 25\30 Year Mortgage is any different, even worse if towards the final payments you run out of money, ending in repossession, meaning all that money invested into the property, is gone.

Maybe if I won the triple Lottery and could pay the lot off upfront, failing this I see no point in taking such a risk, especially considering I cannot take it with me when my time is up. However I can see the Government (whoever it is) rubbing their hands at the prospect of filling their pockets over it.

I have the means to afford a property and will be doing in the future...

The bit about being jealous because you are more sucessful, the reasons behind the sucess are what boths me... because you was born earlier, simple as that.

It seem the older generations have taken all the wealth and closed the door behind them, as I say I have worked hard and will get there, but am I just going to say 'I am fine f**k the rest of my generation' no I am not, yet you seem to be quite happy in the fact that you are fine yet the generations below you are going to struggle to have what you got so easily in comparison.

Its to the point that you take pleasure in hearing how the younger generations have to work twice as hard to get half as much and you find that funny which is the truly insulting part.

Just consider that the numbers of people like me and growing while you are all dying, we should stop burning fossil fuels and old people cost a lot to keep... I see a solution there.

You and Adolf Hitler  must go down as one of the most lowlife paragraphs in MSE history. I have news for you, most older people had to struggle to buy a property exactly the same as now.

The solution is solar/wind/tidal power, how does that make me Hitler? :p

You will find a situation my parents where in is impossible now, yes they may have struggled but my dad had a an unskilled full time job and my mum had an unskilled part time job, me and my other half are both in highly skilled full time jobs to have a chance of having what they had and people doing the same as they did have no chance of buying a house.

So is the struggle really the same?

That's why I love holidays and experiences over material goods. Nobody can take them away from me.

First thing Id do if i won the lottery is walk out of my house leaving the door wide open, with a passport in one pocket and a couple of credit cards in the other pocket.

I wouldnt even pack spare socks.

The struggle is the same as it was for everyone during the last recession. Things got better. Right now we are as far into recovery as the length of the recession.

Problem is you want everything today and can't see further than the end of your nose. Typical for your generation you choose to whine about it and make it someone elses problem to resolve rather than make the most of a bad job as everyone before you had to do.

[edit] I generalise of course. There are young people out there doing alright for themselves.
