It's a commendable stance, Driver8. Perhaps you could suggest other tea companies that still promote British jobs. People will continue to buy Twinings unless there's a readily available alternative. Not much point saying 'Don't do *that*'. Far better to say 'Do *this* instead'."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0

Maybe Twinings did it so they could tap into a hard working and reliable workforce which seems to be lacking over here? Just a thought.0

Bit ironic when seems like most of the Poles are over here...:rotfl:0

I read somewhere when this was first annouced a week or two ago that 90% will still be produced in the UK. the 10% made abroad will be for distribution throughout the rest of Europe (this has to be a good thing - less transportation is a good thing for the environment.
Also - it will state on the packaging if it is made in the UK, or Poland, or elsewhere... so take a look at the packaging!
I will still be buying Twinnings. And as someone else said - it is personal choice. It is impossible to buy EVERYTHING british made these days (unfortunately!).
Consumers want to pay as little as possible, manufactuers and shops want to make maximum profits - the two don't really mix that well.0 -
I read about that some weeks ago and haven't bought their tea since, nor will I. There are plenty of good brands out there. perhaps peoples power is what is needed a bit more often0
-
Think its a bit wrong getting 10million grant to move production, hardly fair to UK workers it is no matter who they work for.0
-
Agreed Deanos, I thought that this was what really took the biscuit - that we have effectively paid, in our taxes, for jobs to be taken out of the country.0

Twining's Tea. Having just watched Despatch's on Channel 4 and learning that Twining's are closing their North Shield's factory to move production to Poland i will never buy their product again.

I hope they now go bust.
if your going to stop buying twinnings then maybe you should stp buying the brands listed here since twinnings is owned by associated british foods who might have made the decision to move to poland
there will still be peple who will buy the tea as they like it so cant see them going out of business0 -
Sounds just like what Dyson did with his workforce in the UK , moved all the production to the east and let his workforce , who had made his name with quality products , go on the dole !
Now theres company loyalty to its workers !A Bast**d I May Be ! I Was Born One !
Whats Your Excuse ?0
