Thanks Glenn and James. I want to determine if Nationwide have introduced a secret policy of siffing those who use their cards abroad only. Although from the posts, it seems that getting your card declined seems more like hit and miss.

I've a week left to decide which one to apply for. PO or Natiowide card

Tip: Inform your card issuers that you're going abroad and give dates.

Thanks for the tips, I'll remember to call by card issuers when travelling outside the UK.

I didn't know audi had a no fee cc and after some research, it seems a better alternative to the Nationwide cc (6 months interest free on purchases).

Pin, nice comprehensive 12 step article on the best ways to spend abroad.

As a side note, more providers are going the Mastercard route and ditching visa. Does this have anythng to do with lower loading fees?
