BT or plusnet?

Hi I am changing my internet provider from Talk Talk and am trying to decide between BT and Plusnet. BT is £1 a month more for the basic package than Plusnet so not really any difference in price. Can anyone advise which would be better for service?

I've been with plusnet for over 5 years now - had 1 problem with emails (and then only the webmail on Plusnet's server - I still recieved emails to outlook) which was resolved quickly. I would be happy to recommend them. I have never used BT for broadband so can't comment on them.0

Same here, No problems with plusnet in 5 years, plus i have just given them my line and calls from BT.0

Anothe vote here for Plusnet - haven't used BT but Plusnet are infinitely better than HOrrange, my previous ISP !!0

Plusnet every time: why pay BT more for a worse service (you are aware that BT own Plusnet though)?

Plusnet is great - nice call centre (local) and even phoned up after a recent house move to check if my broadband had transferred as requested and was up and running. I pay for their premium service (£19.99) as I found I was going over the basic service limit, though. They are a million times better than talktalk, speeds are good and connection consistent.0

Absolutely true! But Plusnet seem to provide a good service - mine has been going for around 14 months, including a house move and so far so good. I know quite a few people who have had problems with BT Broadband, even if they do have major shares in Plusnet! They operate different call centres (ie India outsourced much of the time) and on the whole Plusnet seems to operate a smoother operation.0 -
...can you use 18866 on Plusnet ?...................thanks ed0

I was with plus net. I left when I moved house, and they charged me a £25 pound disconnection fee (find that in the T&Cs without a magnifying glass), and they also started charging me again for a service I wasn't receiving 6 months after leaving. I would not touch them with a barge pole.0

The £25 fee was only introduced about 2 years ago-it's the cease charged levied by BT Openreach to the ISP for a cease without using a MAC. Every ADSL ISP passes on this charge now.
Assuming you cancelled your DD after they took the final payment, how could they start charging you again? No free lunch, and no free laptop
