Royal Mail Special Delivery problem

The system simply does not work. I've engaged the building management for assistance, suggesting that I would take legal action if they resisted and the manager came back with this:
"All three parcels were collected by you and our Client will instruct Solicitors to handle this matter should you wish to use the Legal route. All such costs will be recovered from your Landlord, who may then wish to recover from you. They will consider that you are making a fraudulent claim. You should also note, that parcels left with the Concierge are done so with no liability on the part of our Client’s staff. You should also note that your Client has not obtained Licence to Sublet in accordance with his Lease. Our Client may consider whether they should indeed issue such Licence."
At this point I've all but given up. It's just not worth it anymore0 -
This is theft of post in transit , ie it hasnt actually been delivered to the OPs address and physically been delivered by the concierge , phone the police and obtain a crime number . They may record it as theft of mail but who cares. Launch an enquiry with royal mail as the postperson should also have checked all parcels were present .ONE HOUSE , DS+ DD Missymoo Living a day at a time and getting through this mess you have created. One day life will have no choice but to be nice to me :rotfl:0

Except that I believe it is definitely theft within my complex.
I recently discovered that 2 Amazon deliveries of mine had also gone amiss. These 2 packages were delivered the day before the camcorder was lost. The Amazon driver himself said that he left the packages with the porter.
To make matters more complicated and absolutely to my disadvantage, I had a few packages piling up in the concierge's storeroom from the previous week. I stupidly thought about collecting them all in one go instead of making a separate trip every single day. So I collected those packages on the same day as when the camcorder went amiss (& naturally signed for them in the book).
It is this unfortunate circumstances which I believe would absolutely KILL my defense.
It is too much of a coincidence for Royal Mail & an Amazon courier to have lost all these packages. This is theft of post in transit , ie it hasnt actually been delivered to the OPs address and physically been delivered by the concierge , phone the police and obtain a crime number . OP,what other option for mail delivery is there in the building?
does every door have a letterbox
do people have to sign/swipe into the building?0 -
Well, there are approximately 3 buildings for the complex. You can only get into each building with the use of a fob - and the fob only works for the building in which you reside. Within these buildings there are tiny little postboxes which are only useful for magazines & letters (I'm not sure how mail is delivered into these postboxes). Then there's the concierge's office which is situated in a completely seperate, and completely detached building about 2 minutes away on foot.
There is absolutely no other option for mail delivery. Large packages go straight to the concierge and small ones go into our mailboxes.OP,what other option for mail delivery is there in the building?

so the concierge office is the only option for packet deliveries?
i would use this as a point of argument. they cant have a system in place but then wash all responsibility from themselves.
the only sticking point is that they could argue they are doing it as a favour as you should be carded to your post box
perhaps its worth putting flyers in all mail boxes to askthe other residents if they have had issues?0 -
Yes, and I also conveniently received this mail from the property manager following our last exchange:
"Although we consider this matter closed, please do not have any further parcels delivered to the Concierge Office.
We cannot have our Client’s staff being wrongly accused of theft or negligence. Please have alternative arrangements made."
I'm quite tempted to ask the other tenants if they've had similar experiences. My only fear is that if the landlord were to learn of this, he could terminate my tenancy immediately for whatever reason he decides.so the concierge office is the only option for packet deliveries?

I would definitely ask the other tenants, and I would also contact your local police station to report the theft(s).
Perhaps it's worth posting notes in tenants letter boxes or under their doors, asking them to contact you if they've experienced any missing parcels.
Your landlord can give you 2 months notice (from a rent date) to evict you, but only if you're out of a fixed period. When did you last sign a contract?
They seem so sure their staff didn't do it, that it actually sounds suspicious!Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
