  • I've had this account for a couple of years. Problem is that their telephone staff are dreadful. I've been badly messed about by them several times till I've got to the point of closing the account. Transferring to them was a nightmare also, you have to do all the work and all the chasing up. a good rate of interest yes, but dealing with their incompetent ill informed uncaring staff will drive you away!

    It's not 0870 for Premier/Premier Direct accounts; it's 0845.

0870 only applies to "standard" current accounts.
  • I tried for A& L account told I can only have a bog standard account and got a credit score of 959 and can pay in £2,800. God I'm feed up how do I change there minds?

They accepted me and my credit score isn't very good as I changed current account providers and back within a short space of time and have moved around between lots of different rented accommodation recently. I also said I could only pay in just over £1000 a month.

Have you done lots of applications in a short space of time or something that would mean they might decline you?
Indecision is the key to flexibility :)
  • No it's clean do not understand it think it's because I did not want a credit card.
    Thanks for your concern.

  • I switched at the beginning of 2006 and haven't hd any problems. The telephone staff have always been helpful and the transfers have always gone over ok. The only thing i would say is that the site is sometimes sow or down for maintenance, but annoying but no hardship. Hope you have solved your quandry.

I have applied for this account, did so a week ago today (Tuesday) and got two emails straight back, one saying they would confirm if my application was accepted in 48 hours and another saying they would confirm if my application was accepted in 24 hours.

I haven't recieved word yet a week later... is this a sign that maybe this is a bad move?

I rang them on Friday which I thought was reasonable enough and spoke to someone who seemed helpful enough and said she would chase it and see if things could be speeded up, but still nothing. Should I chase it up further? I don't have any reference number or anything except my name/address to get them to track the application! Anyone else found they didn't get back to them?

we got the Premier Direct account last year to use as a joint account and have had no trouble at all with it. The website isnt the greatest but it works and staff in branch are very helpful.
Even thinking of switching my current account to one.

    Hi Essenchill,

I'd definitely chase them up about it again as when I applied at the end of last year I got the same email saying my applcation had been accepted and I would get a decision within 24 hours but I got a second email telling my my application had been accepted only a few hours after the first one. They were very quick to send everything out in the post as well so I'd be chasing them up to see nothing went wrong with your application being submitted if I was you.

    Regards

    Michelle

Have chased it again and they put me onto their underwriters who said it seemed to be in process and I should definitely hear in the next 24 to 48 hours by email and post. Seems like a sign to me though that there is such a delay on this...! Will have to wait and see now. Odd that the application has all been submitted fine but no word from them in any form!
